I understand how people get addicted and that it is bad, but I play about 4 to 5 hours a week and I am getting good grades. I don't see why this is such a big problem unless you play until morning, like Jay said.Sam GIlburghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02489187899692990405noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8239285302264210683.post-71538113935789887992012-05-01T07:43:31.005-07:002012-05-01T07:43:31.005-07:00Great Read and Intriguing article!Great Read and Intriguing article!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04467202609317921987noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8239285302264210683.post-37299998015536077522012-03-29T14:21:21.822-07:002012-03-29T14:21:21.822-07:00Thanks for the comment. Thanks for the comment.Justin Brown (pen name)https://www.blogger.com/profile/06726743180209955370noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8239285302264210683.post-71264143840435689082012-03-26T17:18:15.755-07:002012-03-26T17:18:15.755-07:00I love video games. There are a plethora of reasons kids and adults get addicted to games and can't seem to do anything else but play, and it's not because of the games. They're just as vulnerable to getting hooked on other, worse things, so I'd rather see them playing games.

Games, like anything else in life, are only as good or bad as we are. We get out of them what we put into them. They can be beneficial or a time sink.

I know people who demonize them wholly, and people who glorify them wholly, and, taking the Middle Way on it, just don't understand the sentiment. Though I'd rather not waste time attacking gaming. I think many of us see the bogeyman everywhere, when we all should just chill out and play a little, whether it's a video game or another variety :D

But then I know people on a game I play, who spend thousands of dollars on it. Not my cup of tea, either.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04454406837183787620noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8239285302264210683.post-18539704803008885782012-03-23T12:39:08.311-07:002012-03-23T12:39:08.311-07:00That's interesting that you also researched it...That's interesting that you also researched it. You're right, Jay.

Your son's friend is not helping himself when he does that. Video games are very
addicting. I never was that much into video games, but I did, at times get into playing some pc games and found it kind of hard to stop. I almost never play games anymore, knowing how harmful they are. The truth is, video games are just a big waste of time and they are harmful.

Sure thing. I'll check out your book on your blog.Justin Brown (pen name)https://www.blogger.com/profile/06726743180209955370noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8239285302264210683.post-73812108734476903272012-03-22T19:59:34.538-07:002012-03-22T19:59:34.538-07:00I can't tell you how much research I've do...I can't tell you how much research I've done on this topic. Been studying it for over a decade. When I was studying to be a teacher, I did a big research project on it.

My oldest son is now 11, and I've showed him all of the studies. The dopamine effect is particularly bothersome. Just like any "drug," you then need more stimulation to get that same "high."

My son has a couple friends that play a lot of video games. One plays Rated M games until the wee hours of the morning, even during the school week. Crazy.

Oh, and if you want a quick blurb on my book coming out in July, just click the Dragonfly Warrior tab at the top of my blog page.Jay Noelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04757777693161610861noreply@blogger.com
