How to Be Set Free From Strongholds (Spiritual Warfare and being set free from the enemy)

How to Be Set Free From Strongholds

(Click photo to enlarge.)
Strongholds are present in each one of us, whether we know it or not. They are fortifications and castles that Satan, the enemy of God, has placed in our lives when we have given place to Satan. Satan is seeking to devour all who are born into this world (1 Peter 5:5-10). The devil seeks to ensnare Christians as well as non-Christians in the traps of sin. In this article, we will learn how to escape the snares of the devil.

God has put this article on my heart to share with you. The information presented in this article will help both you and your loved ones to get set free from Satan and to live uprightly with God. We will see what the Bible says about how to get free from these traps.

When a man or woman (or child) gives place to any given sin, legal ground has been given to the devil. This spiritual ground becomes land on which a spiritual castle or stronghold is built. Satan raises his flag and uses this stronghold as a point of attack. For example, if a man looks at a woman to lust after her, he sins against God (see Matthew 5:27-29) and a stronghold is immediately started. The stronghold can grow larger and expand if this person continues to give place to the sin of lust (or adultery or whatever it is).

There are many different kinds of sin in the world but we can sum up all sin as disobedience to God (1 Samuel 15:22-23, Romans 6:16, etc.). If we disobey God, we would be obeying Satan who hates God. Rebellion is serious to God.

1 Samuel 15:22-23 (bold / underline added)
22 And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, he hath also rejected thee from being king.

Rebellion can take many forms, but all sin is a type of rebellion (in one degree or another).
In Acts 5:29, Peter stood up to the ungodly religious leaders of the day who wanted him to stop preaching Jesus Christ. Acts 5:29: “Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.” We must obey God rather than men (including our own flesh) and not disobey God.

If God convicts you about a sin, should you (a) ignore God’s conviction or (b) confess to God (not to a priest) that you have sinned and repent (turn away) from sin? The second question to honestly ask is: “What would God want me to do?” Would God want you to continue in sin?

False Grace Exposed

(Click photo to enlarge.)

So many people today believe the false doctrine that once a person believes in Jesus and gets saved, he or she will never fall away from his (her) position in Christ. Nowhere in the Bible does it teach that. Scripture in the Old Testament and in the New Testament teaches that all sin eventually leads to death, eternal death (or separation from God).

Some of the many examples from the Old Testament include:

Ezekiel 33:13 (bold / underline added)
13 When I shall say to the righteous, that he shall surely live; if he trust to his own righteousness, and commit iniquity, all his righteousnesses shall not be remembered; but for his iniquity that he hath committed, he shall die for it.
Isaiah 3:10-11

10 Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.
11 Woe unto the wicked! It shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be given him.

The New Testament has many examples. Here are just a couple:

Romans 6:16 (bold / underline added)

16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

Hebrews 10:26-31 (bold / underline added)
26 For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
28 He that despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:
29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
30 For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.
31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

There is no such thing a Christian adulterer or a Christian idolater (worships idols like hobbies instead of God). Revelation 21:8 says: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
God is serious about sin. Those who continue in sin will not experience more grace, because they do not want to serve God. Jesus Christ said…

Luke 16:13-15 (bold / underline added)
13 No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
14 And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided him.
15 And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.

Getting Set Free From Strongholds

(Photo: Click here to see source.)
Now that we have looked at the consequence of sin, which is eternal death in Hell, let us look at how to get set free from demonic strongholds (or strongholds of sin).

Repentance is the key in order to be set free from any sin (including pornography which is a type of fornication and adultery. See Matthew 5:28-29). God wants His children to confess their sins to God and repent from sin. Repentance is turning away from sin and depending on God for help to do so.

There is a way out of the trap of sin. To get set free from sin one needs to be:

(1) confessing sin to God and repenting (turning away) from sin every time he or she is aware of sinning (Proverbs 28:13-14 and 1 John 1:9-10);

(2) crying out to God for deliverance (see Psalm 40:12-13);

(3) using the sword of the Spirit (God’s word) and spiritual warfare against sin and temptation whenever the temptation comes (Ephesians 6; 2 Corinthians 10:3-5; James 4:4-10; etc.).

What is this spiritual warfare we are speaking of here? This is something God has shown me from His Holy Bible. (There are supporting scriptures below.) It really works and it is powerful against the enemy. We have seen how effective it is for getting set free from the bondage to sin.

When you sin you need to (as soon as possible):

(1) Confess and repent from all the sins you are aware of doing (pornography, fornication, lust, pride, lying, hate, fear, idolatry, etc.).
(2) In Jesus Christ’s name, take back the ground (or territory in your life) you have given to the enemy through your sins. This is taking back an enemy stronghold.
(3) In Jesus Christ’s name, bind the evil spirits of the sins you gave place to and cast those spirits into the deep (abyss) in Jesus Christ’s name.

We will briefly mention some supporting scripture for this spiritual warfare. The first point (1) is supported by Proverbs 28:13-14 and 1 John 1:9-10. Confession and repentance are needed for a Christian to walk uprightly with God.

The second point (2) about taking back ground given to the enemy and binding evil spirits is supported in 2 Corinthians 10:3-5, Matthew 18:18, and Psalm 149:6-9. Spirits can be bound and ground can be taken back in Jesus Christ’s name (Luke 10:17-20 and Mark 16:17-18).

The third point (3) about binding evil spirits and casting them into the deep is supported in Luke 10:17-20, Mark 16:17-18, and Luke 8:31. In Jesus Christ’s name, Christians can cast demons out of people like the disciples did in the Gospel of Luke. In Jesus Christ’s name, Christians can also tell demons to go down into the abyss (or deep). This is done only through Jesus Christ’s all-powerful name (Matthew 28:18-20 and Mark 16:17).

If you (the Christian) do these Biblical steps, you will be free from sin (including lust, fear, doubt, deception, lying, addictions to pornography, and other things). As you seek God and look to God for help, God will help you to fight the enemy and your own fleshly desires. God will give you the power to overcome the enemy as you cry out to God. If you depend on God and seek God, He will help you and you will be free from your addiction to any sin (including pornography). You will still have to battle temptations but God will give you the help you need as you depend on God (see James 1:13-15 and 1 Corinthians 10:12-13).

Would you like to find out how to Know God's Name Personally?

IF YOU ARE SEEKING TO KNOW GOD, please read this message.

1 Timothy 2:5: “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;”
Acts 4:12: “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”
Ephesians 2:8-9
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

God loves us so much that He sent His Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins and shed His precious blood to pay for all of these sins. (See John 3:16; and 1 Corinthians 15:3-5; and Romans 5:8-11.)

If you repent (turn away) from your sins (Acts 3:19), and believe and confess aloud that Christ has done this for you (Romans 10:9-10), and have made Him your Lord and Savior (again Romans 10:9-10) you are saved.

Now seek God with all your heart. Seek to know Him and you will (Jeremiah 29:13).

John 17:3: "And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.”
Jeremiah 29:13: “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.”
John 14:6: “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
Acts 4:12: “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”
