Disney and the Evil Kingdom

Disney and the Evil Kingdom

Founded in 1923, the Walt Disney Studios has produced numerous cartoon and live-action films that have turned into rides in the Disney theme parks (1). The Disney Company had a net worth of $103.96 billion in 2013 and raked in $42.84 billion of annual sales (2).

This massive company has had a large impact on the lives of hundreds of millions of people around the world. In 2013, 132.5 million guests enjoyed the 11 Disney resorts and parks around the world (3). Kids and adults enjoy the Magic Kingdom and the various themes in the Disney resorts, but there is a dark aspect to Disney that many do not understand.

Walt Disney and Magic

(Photo: Magic mirror from Snow White... Click for source.)

Walt Disney had a love for magic and fantasy which could clearly be seen in the Disney cartoons he produced, such as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The film includes a lot of magic: a magic mirror, an evil witch, magic curses (a poisoned apple that puts a death curse which can only be lifted by a kiss), and a magic kiss that awakens Snow White (5). This may all seem harmless, but it is not. Magic spells, curses, magic mirrors, etc. are real and are used by witches today.

Real witches today use mirrors for “scrying” or gaining special knowledge and fortune-telling (4). The evil witch from the Disney film used her magic mirror also for “scrying” or gaining special knowledge about who was the “fairest in the land.”

Practitioners in “black magic” cast spells (known as curses) intended to harm other people. A spell (and a curse) is a spoken formula that causes or influences a desired outcome (4). The apple given to Snow White contained a curse that could only be broken by a magic kiss.

This may seem strange to you that we are talking about fairy tales as if they were real, but the truth is that fairy tales are drawn from occult knowledge and are based on real occult practices. The Grimm brothers published a volume called Household Stories by the Brothers Grimm. One of these fairy tales is called “Roland”, which is a prime example of witchcraft. In “Roland”, a girl uses an evil witch’s magic wand to fight the witch, who happens to be her evil stepmother. (8).

Disney carries this occult theme through most of his cartoons and movies. In Fantasia (1940), Mickey Mouse dons a wizard’s hat and cloak. He begins performing occultic feats such as controlling water with magic and magically causing a broom to start moving. In the same sequence (The Sorcerer’s Apprentice), Mickey dreams that he is a powerful sorcerer or wizard controlling the stars, planets, and water (6).

Sorcerers today can perform “magic” which involves levitation, or moving objects from a distance. An Encyclopaedia of Occultism defines levitation as: “Levitation: A term in use among spiritualists to denote the raising in the air of the human body or other objects without visible means...” (7).

Sorcery is an Abomination

God’s Word, the Bible, says this about sorcery:

Deuteronomy 18:9-12 (emphasis added)
9 When thou art come into the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.
10 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch.
11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.
12 For all that do these things are an abomination unto the Lord: and because of these abominations the Lord thy God doth drive them out from before thee.

God is telling us how He feels about such abominations. Witchcraft (or sorcery) in all its various forms is an abomination (something very evil) to God. Familiar spirits are demon spirits that give occult knowledge to witches or occultists. Necromancers are those who speak to demons who claim to be the spirits of the dead.

The Bible says in Hebrews 9:27: “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:” Spirits of your dead relatives do not roam the earth. This is a cover for demonic activity.

Disney and the Occult

Going back to Disney: When a child watches Mickey Mouse magically controlling water, brooms, etc., what is he or she thinking about magic? Is he thinking: “That looks fun”?

Having magic powers is appealing to kids and adults. Kids pretend to use “the Force” when they fight with toy lightsabers and “Force-choke” or “Force-push” each other.

As children grow up, the movies and TV shows continue to program them to accept magic as acceptable and “fun”. Disney has produced a number of popular TV shows and movies promoting witchcraft. Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Wizards of Waverly Place, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, and The Chronicles of Narnia, are just some examples. There are many others.

When Twilight came out, millions of young women bought the books and watched the movies, enraptured by the love story between a girl and a vampire. Edward Cullen, the vampire, was part of a coven, which is a witchcraft term for a group of witches (11). Though Disney did not produce this book or film series, Disney did play a large role in promoting witchcraft through the Disney cartoons and TV shows Twilight fans have seen since childhood.

Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and Star Wars have also swept many kids and adults into the arms the occult. Disney bought Lucasfilm for $4 billion in 2013 and is working on another Star Wars film (9). Kids, teens, and adults are already looking forward to the opening date of this movie.

Though Star Wars does not have pointy hats, magic wands, and flying brooms, it does promote the occult nonetheless.

The late David J. Meyer, a former witch (or warlock), wrote an article about Harry Potter and mentioned this:

‘When real witches have sabats and esbats and meet as a coven, they greet each other by saying "Blessed be", and when they part, they say "The Force be with you." Both sides of this "Force" are Satan. It is not a good side of the force that overcomes the bad side of the force, but rather it’s the blood of Jesus Christ that destroys both supposed sides of the satanic "Force."’ (10) (Emphasis added)

An Appeal and a Warning

Please take time to consider this and do not throw this out because it does not appeal to you. Whether you are a Christian or not, you will have to give account to God for your actions and thoughts (See 2 Corinthians 5:10; Matthew 7:13-29; and Matthew 5:28-30). If you reject God’s word, which clearly tells us that witchcraft and sorcery is evil, you will have no excuse on judgment day (Revelation 3:5-6; Matthew 10:32-39; Luke 14:25-35; Revelation 21:7-8; Galatians 5:19-21; and Mark 9:42-50).

I don’t write this to frighten you, but to warn you. If someone was driving toward the edge of a high cliff, wouldn’t you want to warn them? The Bible warns us in many places about how sin will lead to Hell (some examples: Romans 6:16; Romans 6:23; Galatians 6:7-8; Ephesians 5:1-7; Matthew 7:13-29; and Hebrews 3:7-15). If you are a parent, you need to consider how TV shows, video games, movies, books, etc. will affect your kids. God will hold you accountable for what you let your kids watch, read, and play (Mark 9:42-44).

I encourage you to repent from any sin God convicts you about and seek God with all your heart (Proverbs 28:13-14 and Jeremiah 29:13). It is important that you forsake the world, deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow Jesus Christ (1 John 2:15-17 and Mark 8:34-38). Thank you for taking time to read. I hope this article will encourage you to seek God, to know Him, and find out what He wants you to do.

If you would like to have a personal relationship with God and be saved from sin, please read below.

Would you like to find out how to Know God's Name Personally?

IF YOU ARE SEEKING TO KNOW GOD, please read this message.

1 Timothy 2:5: “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;”
Acts 4:12: “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”
Ephesians 2:8-9:
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
2 Corinthians 5:1010 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

God loves us so much that He sent His Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins and shed His precious blood to pay for all of these sins. (See John 3:16; and 1 Corinthians 15:3-5; and Romans 5:8-11.)

If you repent (turn away) from your sins (Acts 3:19), and believe and confess aloud that Christ has done this for you (Romans 10:9-10), and have made Him your Lord and Savior (again Romans 10:9-10) you are saved.

Now seek God with all your heart. Seek to know Him and you will (Jeremiah 29:13).

John 17:3: "And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.”
Jeremiah 29:13: “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.”
John 14:6: “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
Acts 4:12: “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”
