CALIFORNIA FIRES --- PRAYER NEEDED FOR CALIFORNIA

Over 191,000 acres have burned across California. The official death total is 31 (as of Oct. 12, 2017). At least 3,500 homes and other buildings have been burned down. Entire neighborhoods were burned to the ground, including schools, houses, businesses, valuables, and cars.

Several destructive fires started on Oct. 8, 2017, during the night, and they quickly swept through California, destroying whole neighborhoods in Santa Rosa and parts of Napa County, including some vineyards.

And, brothers and sisters in Christ, these people in California need our prayers, and they need to turn to Jesus for salvation. (Let's remember also the people in Puerto Rico, Mexico, South Sudan, and flood victims in Asia.)

Los Vegas shooting -- On the night of October 1, 2017, at least 59 people were killed and over 500 people were injured during a mass shooting in Los Vegas. This is known to be the worst shooting in America's recent history. The survivors need our prayers.

Puerto Rico, a U.S. territory with over 3 million U.S. citizens, is still suffering from the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. Roads are unusable in many places, power is out, communication lines are down, and hospitals are running low on fuel for their generators. People have to wait in long lines just to get some food or fuel. There is no running water (as of Oct. 12, 2017). They need our prayers too.

This is clearly a dark time in this nation's history. And, it will get darker, but God's Light will shine brighter as we look to Jesus.

John chapter 1, verses 1 through 13, speaks about how Jesus Christ is the Light of the world. There is only spiritual darkness apart from Jesus, and there is only Light in Him. He is the Light.

John 1:1-13

"1. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  2. The same was in the beginning with God.  3. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.  4. In him was life; and the life was the light of men.  5. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

6. There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.  7. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.  8. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.  9. That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

10. He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.  11. He came unto his own, and his own received him not.  12. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:  13. Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God." [End quote]

Let's look to Jesus Christ, the Light, and we will not be moved from a place of peace, joy, happiness, and safety. God will never fail those who seek Him.

Prayer is still needed for the suffering people in Puerto Rico; Mexico (earthquakes); India / Bangladesh / Nepal (floods); the Caribbean; Texas; Florida; South Sudan / Ukraine (war); and in other regions which saw deaths and the loss of homes, possessions, and livelihoods from natural disasters and wars.

These are signs of the times in which we live, too. God is preparing people for the tribulation which is coming in the near future. Jesus Christ spoke of catastrophic events in the book of Matthew 24. We are starting to see the beginning of them.

Now is a time to seek God and repent from sin He convicts us about. It is a time to get to know God as our Abba Father and best Friend. If we are not saved, or if we have not made Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord, now is the time to do it. Tomorrow may be to late for some.

Jesus Christ said: "...  and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out." (John 6:37. https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/John-6-37/)
