“The Flying Menace in Norway”

“You sure have strong faith in God’s power. I wish I had that faith,” Inga said from the shadows of the bush she was hiding under.

“You can have that faith,” Karl said, “by just simply making the choice to believe God over how you feel. And, you will see God work powerfully. Faith is really just a choice. It is not a feeling.”

Karl, Inga, Toben, Elise, and Abdul were in a forest in Norway seeking to escape the communistic authorities of the new authoritarian puppet government. They had just met a young, Muslim family who had fled from authorities since the man of the household, Musa, had stolen 150,000 rubles*. [* It is roughly $5,000 U.S. dollars. In the future, 30 rubles will be roughly equal to one dollar from 2017. That is what God showed this writer.]

“So, you’re saying that faith has nothing to do with having a feeling that you have faith?” Inga said.

“Faith is a decision to trust God over how you feel,” Karl said without any hesitation.

A buzzing sound reached Karl’s ears and he looked up. Turning around, he noticed a dark object blotting out part of the early night sky. Stars were just starting to appear but the moon had not risen above the horizon yet. It was a large, armed, quad-rotor drone, and it was now approaching Karl and his friends with the certainty of having spotted its targets. It was in the air 280 yards away. [Read about this in Part 26.]

“Everyone, get down! A drone is coming!” Elise shouted from another bush a few yards away.

“There is no need to fear. God protected Daniel in the lions’ den. And, God protected us earlier from a drone,” Karl said as he stooped to pick up a round rock on the ground.

“You’re right, Karl. The bullets it fired at us fell to the ground. I am going to act in faith regardless of how I feel,” Elise said before she started crawling out of the bushes. She stood to her feet.

With leaves in her hair, she stood straight and began praying.

The drone was now 100 yards away and slowly closing.

PART 26: “Drone Attack / Night in the Forest”

“Drone Attack”

In a Norwegian forest, a quad-rotor drone, remotely controlled by a supercomputer in a Norwegian military base, was hovering in the air just 14 yards away from a group of five Christians. This unmanned vehicle was roughly the size of a medium-sized dining room table. An automatic, large-caliber, rotating gun, called a rotary autocannon, was mounted under its belly.

Having just located and identified the Christians, using advanced heat sensors and cameras, the vehicle had been authorized by its human commanders to kill. Within seconds of locating the group of five, the drone’s rotary autocannon whirred into action, spraying a withering stream of bullets as the drone began panning its autocannon toward them.

“BURRR…!” The roar of the drone’s autocannon filled the forest air as a wall of bullets erupted from the gun muzzle and slashed through branches and twigs just inches from Karl’s head. A split second later, bullets flew in his direction. There was no natural way they would not kill him. And, there was no time for a prayer.

A Mercedes-Benz Viano taxi van took its passengers through scenic Norwegian woodland. The forest was sparser and often occupied by rural homes closer to the town of Hamar, but as the miles rolled by, the woods became more dense and harder to see much beyond thirty feet from the road, and the houses appeared much rarer. The sky was blue and full of fluffy clouds, and the sun was up near its zenith.

Karl, Abdul, Elise, Toben, and Inga talked quietly with one another as they rode down the miles of a narrow, country road, which had branched off from the main road miles back.

“Karl,” Abdul, a 25-year-old Syrian man, said as he looked at the scenery moving past them.

“Yes, Abdul?” Karl Holst said, turning toward his friend, who was sitting on the same bench seat.

“Are we going to survive out here in these woods with just a couple days’ worth of food in our rucksacks?” Abdul asked.

Karl awoke in the darkness. He sat up in his hotel bed and gazed at the digital clock on a lamp table beside the bed. It displayed the time in green numbers: 12:30 AM. Still wearing his daytime clothes, he got out of bed and walked toward the window of the hotel room he shared with Toben. The Nigerian man was asleep on the other hotel bed with the blankets drawn up under his chin.

Chapter Twenty-Three

PART 23: “Jungle Surprise”

The Southeast Asian jungle at night was not a place Hu wanted to be. Having traveled through the Yunnan jungle for a few days, to escape persecution, Hu longed for a place to sleep in where no poisonous snakes would be found, and where no communist soldiers would threaten his life. But, he knew that the small group needed to continue their journey, since the Chinese government was aware of their last position.

Hu suddenly tripped on a thick root, and fell to the ground. “Ah,” he said as he impacted the soil.

His friend, Cheng, a 42-year-old Chinese man, reached down with a free hand and Hu took it. With Cheng’s assistance, the weary 24-year-old found his footing again. They were now walking on the side of a steep hill, and the ground was somewhat slippery, having been rained on recently.

Just twenty minutes ago, several columns of fire had fallen from the sky, passing down through the forest canopy, without burning any trees, and had consumed many Chinese soldiers on the ground. It was a miracle of Biblical proportions, which had astounded Hu, Cheng, and Quang, who had been traveling in the jungles of Yunnan Province, in southern China. The soldiers had found them using heat-sensing technology and were about to arrest them. But, God’s miraculous intervention had delivered the small group of Asian Christians. [Read about these events in Part 17 and Part 18.]

The men continued down the trail, taking it easy, to avoid slipping.

They had flashlights, but none of them dare turned them on, since they knew Chinese soldiers might still be searching the forest for them. Carrying backpacks, Hu and his two older friends trekked down a series of animal trails, trusting that God would protect them from poisonous snakes, just as He had done earlier. Hu had been bitten by a chain viper, but the wound had miraculously been healed, without inflaming. Mark chapter 16 and all of the Bible had brought comfort to Hu as he thought about the miracles God had done for him and for people in the Bible times.

“Hu,” Cheng said, “why do you think God would send fire from heaven to consume those Chinese soldiers, who sought to kill us, but people in China are being tortured and killed because they are Christians?”

Hu turned back toward the 42-year-old man and said: “There are many people who suffer for Christ’s sake, but Jesus did tell His disciples that if they are persecuted in one city, they are to leave and go to a different city. And, Elisha and Elijah both saw God deliver them from evil people who sought to kill them. Elisha called blindness on them, and Elijah called fire from heaven upon his enemies, who were very hardened and calloused against God.”

“That is interesting,” Cheng said as he walked beside Hu, careful to avoid rocks and protruding roots.

“God doesn’t respect one person over another,” Hu continued. “In the book of Romans, chapter 2, verse 11, I remember it says: ‘For there is no respect of persons with God.’ God has no favorite sons or daughters. He loves us all in the same way as He loves Jesus Christ. Jesus spoke of this in John chapter 17, verses 22 and 23. He said: ‘[22] And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: [23] I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.’.”

“God loves us the way He loves Jesus?” Cheng said. “That is amazing. I didn’t realize that was in the Gospel of John. I don’t know if I even read John chapter 17.”

“When I read it, it seemed to jump out at me from the page,” Hu said. “Abba Father God loves us the way He loves His Only Begotten Son, Jesus.”

Suddenly, a snapping sound came from the jungle fifteen feet away. Hu, Cheng, and Quang turned quickly to the left and tried to see what had caused the sound, but thick bushes and dark patches blocked their view up the hill.

Chapter Twenty-Two

PART 22: “The Search”

Major Lukas Grieg was running, or he felt like it. He had just gotten out of his car in the parking garage of the headquarters of the Norwegian secret police, and was heading toward an elevator at a quick walking pace.

Lukas Grieg, a brown-haired man with an athletic build and piercing eyes, aged 42, was a major in the military-like Ministry of the Interior Special Command for National Protection (or the SCNP). Most everyone in this military-like command structure called themselves state protection officers. But, Lukas knew that some prisoners had called them “secret police,” “the Gestapo,” or “the Norwegian KGB.”

Immediately after entering a chrome-plated elevator, Lukas pressed the button for the second floor. Less than twenty minutes ago, Lukas had been awoken from sleep by a secure phone call from a first lieutenant he was in charge of. He had been informed that an important prisoner, Karl Holst, had escaped from a cell in the SCNP headquarters. Lukas had also been told that the lieutenant colonel, who was in charge of the headquarters, had also been notified.

The elevator came to a stop at the second floor, which housed the offices of high-ranking personnel. Once the door slid open, Lukas stepped out into a sparkling hallway. He walked briskly down a white vinyl floor past artificial potted plants and office doors. He was very concerned about the prison escape. For that to happen, in his mind, it would mean that someone on the inside would have to have helped the prisoner escape. This individual would have to be a mole or a compromised person, Lukas thought.

After a short walk, Lukas reached a metal security door. He placed his hand on a scanner to the right of the door. A small screen beside the biometric hand scanner displayed the words, “Enter the number access code.” After he quickly typed in a number code on a keypad, the door unlocked and Lukas flung it open.

CALIFORNIA FIRES --- PRAYER NEEDED FOR CALIFORNIA

Over 191,000 acres have burned across California. The official death total is 31 (as of Oct. 12, 2017). At least 3,500 homes and other buildings have been burned down. Entire neighborhoods were burned to the ground, including schools, houses, businesses, valuables, and cars.

Several destructive fires started on Oct. 8, 2017, during the night, and they quickly swept through California, destroying whole neighborhoods in Santa Rosa and parts of Napa County, including some vineyards.
