John Hagee's False Teaching Exposed

John Hagee's False Teaching Exposed

Left: ?; Center: Benny Hinn; Right: John Hagee
John Hagee, senior pastor of Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, Texas teaches false doctrine about salvation. Hagee denies that salvation is only through Jesus Christ. Hagee falsely claims that the Jews have another way of salvation (or covenant) and that Jesus Christ is not the Messiah (or Christ) of the Jews.

(Contents:
1. The Olive Tree of Promise and Salvation
2. Jesus Christ Does Claim to Be...the Messiah
3. The Old Testament Shows Jesus Christ Is the Messiah
4. Jesus Christ is Part of the Trinity of God and... )

This teaching contradicts the Bible which says Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation (for either Jews or Gentiles).

1 Timothy 2:5 says , "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;"
Acts 4:12 says, "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved."
John 14:6 says ,"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

There are more scriptures that clearly show Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation for everyone (both to Jews and Gentiles).

Romans 1:16 says, "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek." (Note: Greek refers to Gentiles.) (Emphasis added.)

1. The Olive Tree of Promise and Salvation

Romans 11 talks about an olive tree which is God's promised blessings to the Jews. Israel was promised a Messiah to save the Jews from their sin. The Holy Spirit, by Apostle Paul, writes to the saved Gentiles, telling them that they should not boast against the branches God cut out of the olive tree (which is God's covenant with Israel which includes Jesus Christ, the Messiah).

Romans 11:17-19 (Emphasis added)
17 And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert grafted in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;
18 Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.
19 Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be grafted in.

We Gentiles are grafted into this tree. We are now inheritors of the promises God made to Israel of Salvation through the Messiah (Jesus Christ) and of the blessings God gave Abraham. But, we have not replaced Israel. The Jews do not have a separate means of salvation.

Romans 11:19-24
19 Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be grafted in.
20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:
21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.
22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.
23 And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be grafted in: for God is able to graft them in again.
24 For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert grafted contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree?

The Jews have a great inheritance if they will turn back to Jesus Christ and believe in Him and in the promises God gave to Abraham and to his descendants. God promised Abraham that "in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed." This promise is fulfilled by Jesus Christ, the Messiah. (See Genesis 22:18 and Acts 3.) Simon Peter in Acts chapter 3 told the Jews these words, by the leading of the Holy Spirit:

Acts 3:25-26
25 Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.
26 Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.

Jesus Christ is the Savior of both Jews and Gentiles if only they will believe in Jesus Christ for salvation.

2. Jesus Christ Does Claim to Be the Son of God and the Messiah (Christ)

In John 9, Jesus Christ heals a man born blind and Jesus Christ says He is the Son of God. The pharisees saw that the man born blind glorified God for this healing miracle and believed Jesus was of God. So, they cast him out of the synagogue.

John 9:35-38 (Emphasis added)
35 Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God?
36 He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him?
37 And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee. 38 And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.

Clearly, in this passage Jesus Christ makes the true claim that He is the Son of God. John Hagee denies that Jesus ever claimed to be the Messiah (the Christ) to the Jews. But, Jesus Christ does claim to be the Messiah (Christ) of the Jews and of the Gentiles.

Matthew 16:13-17
13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?
14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.
15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

Did you read what Jesus said to Peter (a Jewish fisherman) after Peter said, "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God."? Jesus said to him, "...Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven."

Jesus further said in John 12:32, "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me." The next verse (John 12:33) says, "This he said, signifying what death he should die."

Jesus Christ died on a Roman cross, fulfilling that He would "be lifted up from the earth". Jesus said that He, "will draw all men unto me." Jesus claimed to be the Savior of "all men" (all mankind or humankind) and not just of the Gentiles, as Hagee falsely teaches.

In John 10, Jesus talks more about His role as the Messiah, as the Savior.

John 10:9-11
9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.

3. The Old Testament Shows Jesus Christ Is the Messiah

Old Testament scriptures foretelling about Jesus as the Messiah (the Christ) show that Jesus Christ is the Messiah of the Jews, and not just the Gentiles. The New Testament confirms the Old Testament. Both are part of the Bible and should be read. Here are three (3) examples where Old Testament prophecy is fulfilled by Jesus Christ in the New Testament. (Note: There are many more examples that could be shown. See Appendix.)

#1. Old Testament Prophecy: Born of a Virgin
Isaiah 7:14
14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
 #1. New Testament Fulfillment
Matthew 1:20-23
20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.
22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

#2. Old Testament Prophecy: No Broken Bones,
Parted Garments, Cast Lots for Vesture

Psalm 22:17-18 (And all of Psalm 22)
17 I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me.
18 They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.

#2. New Testament Fulfillment
John 19:36
36 For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken.

Matthew 27:35

35 And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.

#3. Old Testament Prophecy: Had Tomb of Rich Man
Isaiah 53:9
9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.
#3. New Testament Fulfillment
Matthew 27:57-60
57 When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathaea, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus' disciple:
58 He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered.
59 And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,
60 And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed.
(See Appendix for more.)

4. Jesus Christ is Part of the Trinity of God and He Loves You and Wants to Save You

There are many, many more prophecies that Jesus Christ fulfilled. (Please read the Appendix for more.) Jesus Christ, the son of David (or descendant of David), is also the Only Begotten Son of God. Jesus came to Earth both fully God and fully man. God the Father, God the Son (or the Word), and God the Holy Ghost (or Spirit) are the Trinity of God. These three are one.

1 John 5:7 says, "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one."

God the Father sent the Word, Jesus Christ, to Earth to save us from our sins.

John 1:1-4
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

God loves you and wants you to be saved from your sin so you can enter Heaven and enjoy fellowship with you.

John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

Because God is Holy, He cannot allow sin in His Holy Presence in Heaven.

Psalm 1:5-6
5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
6 For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

Psalm 9:17
17 The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God. For the needy shall not always be forgotten: the expectation of the poor shall not perish for ever.

Would you like to have a good relationship with God, be saved from sin, and enter Heaven?

IF YOU ARE SEEKING TO KNOW GOD, please read this message.

God loves us so much that He sent His Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins and shed His precious blood to pay for all of these sins. (See John 3:16 and 1 Corinthians 15:3-4)

If you repent (turn away) from your sins (Acts 3:19), and believe and confess aloud that Christ has done this for you (Romans 10:9-10), and have made Him your Lord and Savior (again Romans 10:9-10) you are saved.

Now seek God with all your heart. Seek to know Him and you will (Jeremiah 29:13).

John 17:3 says: "And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.”

Jeremiah 29:13

13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

#4. Old Testament Prophecy: Sign of Jonah
Jonah 1:17
17 Now the Lord had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights

#4. New Testament Fulfillment
Matthew 12:38-40
38 Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee.
39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas:
40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
(Note: Jesus Christ died, was in the tomb three days, and rose from the dead on the third day. See Matthew 28 and 1 Corinthians 15:3-8.)

#5. Old Testament Prophecy: Jesus Christ Would Sit at the Right Hand of God the Father, Jesus Would Ascend from Earth to Heaven
Psalm 68:18
18 Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive: thou hast received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also, that the Lord God might dwell among them.
Psalm 110:1
110 The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.

#5. New Testament Fulfillment
Matthew 22:44
44 The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool?

Mark 16:19

19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.

Other Prophecies Jesus Christ (the Messiah) Fulfilled

Jesus Christ fulfilled many more prophecies. He is mentioned by Moses in Deuteronomy 18:15. Isaiah 53 talks about Jesus Christ the Messiah and how Jesus bare the sins of many and made intercession for them (i.e. those who believe on His name and call upon Him for salvation).

Moses instructs the children of Israel.
Deuteronomy 18:15-16
15 The Lord thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken;
16 According to all that thou desiredst of the Lord thy God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of the Lord my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not.

(Note: Jesus Christ made many prophecies and He is the Word of God (John 1:1-5).
Moses made intercession to God on behalf of Israel, which had been rebellious {see Exodus 32:7-14).
Jesus Christ likewise intercedes for those who trust in Him.
1 Timothy 2:5 says , "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;")

Isaiah 53:5-7 (Please read the whole chapter of Isaiah 53.)
5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.

Isaiah 53:9-12 (Emphasis added)
9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.
10 Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.
11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

(Note: Jesus Christ fulfilled all of Isaiah 53. See the Gospel of Matthew.)

Here are just a few more of the prophecies of Jesus Christ the Messiah in the Old Testament:

1 comment:

  1. Jesus also said, "... I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel." He said this in response to a Gentile (Greek) woman who wanted her daughter to be healed. Seeing her faith, Jesus healed her daughter showing that He came first to the Jews and also to the Gentiles.

    Matthew 15:22-28

22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.

23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.

24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.

26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.

27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.

28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.
