Numbers 1:3-16 has the names of the leaders of the tribes of the children of Israel. These names have important meanings in Hebrew. In this second article, we will show the name meanings from Numbers 1:8-10. Amazingly, these name meanings* form a secret message from God in a few cohesive paragraphs. (*Which God revealed to me based on the Strong's Concordance). At the very end of this article, you will see the cohesive message.

Here is the context below:

Numbers 1:3-5

"[3] From twenty years old and upward, all that are able to go forth to war in Israel: thou and Aaron shall number them by their armies. 4. And with you there shall be a man of every tribe; every one head of the house of his fathers.

5. And these [are] the names of the men that shall stand with you:"

Numbers 1:8-10

8. Of Issachar; Nethaneel the son of Zuar. 

9. Of Zebulun; Eliab the son of Helon. 

10. Of the children of Joseph: of Ephraim; Elishama the son of Ammihud: of Manasseh; Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur. 

THE THIRTEEN (13) NAME MEANINGS FROM STRONG'S CONCORDANCE

Name: Yissaskar (Issachar)
Strong's Number: 3485
Name Meaning: "...from nasa' and sakar;..." Nasa' means to lift up. Sakar means price or payment. 
Simple Meaning: (The payment is lifted up.)


Name: Nethanel (Nethaneel)
Strong's Number: 5417
Name Meaning: "From nathan and 'el;..." Nathan means to bestow and give. El refers to God in this word. 
Simple Meaning: ("God bestows and gives." Or, "Given of God.")

Name: Tsuar (Zuar)

Name Meaning: "From tsa'ar;..." Tsa'ar means to "be brought low". 
Simple Meaning: (One who is made low.)

Name: Zebulun

Name Meaning: "...from zabal;..." Zabal means to "dwell with". 
Simple Meaning: (He dwells with God.)

Name Meaning: "From 'el and 'ab;..." El refers to God in this word. Ab means "father" (as in Abba Father). 
Simple Meaning: ("God is the Father" Or, "God is his father.")

Name Meaning: "From chayil;..." Chayil means company or host. 
Simple Meaning: ("He shall be a company or a host." Or, "He shall be multiplied." Or, "He shall have much seed [offspring].")

Name: Yoseph (Joseph)

Name Meaning: "Future of yacaph; let him add..." Yacaph means: "...to add or augment". 
Simple Meaning: (He adds or augments.)

Name: Ephrayim (Ephraim)

Name Meaning: "Dual of masculine form of 'Ephraath; double fruit;..." Ephraath is "from parah; fruitfulness;..." Parah means to "...make fruitful, grow, increase..." 
Simple Meaning: (He is fruitful, he grows, and increases.)

Name: Elishama
Strong's Number: 476 Name Meaning: "From 'el and shama';..." El refers to God in this word. Shama means "to hear intelligently". 
Simple Meaning: (God hears him.)

Name: Ammihud 
Strong's Number: 5989
Name Meaning: "From am and howd;..." Am refers to people or nation. Howd means beauty, majesty, and glory. 
Simple Meaning: (The nation [or people] shall be glorious.)

Name: Menashsheh

Name Meaning: "From nashah;..." Nashah means to "forget" or "to remit, remove". 
Simple Meaning: (His sins are forgotten.)

Name: Gamliel (Gamaliel)

Name Meaning: "From gamal and 'el;..." Gamal means "deal bountifully, ... recompense,..." El refers to God in this word. 
Simple Meaning: (He is bountifully recompensed by God.)

Name: Pedahtsur (Pedahzur)

Name Meaning: "From padah and tsuwr;..." Padah means to "deliver", "ransom", and "rescue". Tsuwr means a "rock" and "strength".
Simple Meaning: (He is delivered by the Rock.) ([Note: The Rock is God.])

The Name Meanings Fit Into Two Cohesive Paragraphs

Again, the names we looked at (from Numbers 1:8-10) are Issachar, Nethaneel, Zuar, Zebulun, Eliab, Helon, Joseph, Ephraim, Elishama, Ammihud, Manasseh, Gamaliel, Pedahzur.

When you put the meanings of these name together, they fit into fairly cohesive paragraphs. It says:

"The payment is lifted up [i.e. think of Jesus on the cross]. God bestows and gives. One who is made low. He dwells with God. God is his Father. 

"He [the lowly one] shall have much seed [offspring]. He [the lowly one] adds or augments. He is fruitful, he grows, and increases. God hears him [the lowly one]. The nation [or people] shall be glorious. His [and their] sins are forgotten. He [and they] is [are] bountifully recompensed by God. He is delivered by the Rock."


Now, we can paraphrase these name meanings in this rendering below:


[Jesus Christ who is] the payment [for our sins] was lifted up [on the cross of Calvary]. God bestows blessings [on those who trust in Him]. [The people who are] made low dwell with God, and God is their Father.

[These people] shall have much seed, or offspring, or spiritual fruit. They add to or augment [(i.e. increase) God's Kingdom]. These people are fruitful, and grow, and increase. God hears them [when they pray]. [These] people shall be glorious. [Their] sins are forgotten and remitted [cast into the deepest sea] [and forgiven because they trusted in Jesus]. [These people are] bountifully recompensed by [Father] God [for trusting in God and obeying Him] and they are delivered [by God, who is] the Rock of refuge.

Now, Look at the Name Meaning Paragraph

Now, let's place the paraphrased rendering of the the name meanings from Part 1 of 3 here so you can see the context of the paragraphs we just showed you. 

From Numbers 1:5-7, we have the names Reuben, Elizur, Shedeur, Simeon, 
Shelumiel, Zurishaddai, Judah, Nahshon, Amminadab. 

When you take their meanings together, they form a paragraph. Here is a paraphrase of that paragraph. See below:

Behold, a son. God is his Rock and he dwells within the land of light. This son hears intelligently and he has peace and blessings from God. His Rock is the Almighty God and he praises God. He learns by experience, as he experiences God personally, and he freely offers himself to God.
