Chapter 3

Carpathian Mountains. Romania. 2038 A.D. {Matthew Jeremiah}

Pine needles and dried twigs crunched underneath Matthew Jeremiah’s boots as he walked under tall conifers in a large, Romanian pine forest. He had just been on a mile hike through the woods to get some exercise and see more of the layout of the land. And, now, he was returning back to the camp where he, his friends, and a number of Roma people were staying.

The Roma, who had suffered from being insulted and mistreated by European society, had fled into remote parts of Europe as communists had dispossessed them of their land. These poor, mistreated and hurting people had come to the sanctuary of the Carpathian forest. They sought out a place where they could try to survive without having to rely on the communists, who despised them. Some underground Christians joined them, due to an act of God.

Though things contained in this story / word of God are strange sounding, they are very realistic and true. Prophecies never make sense to the carnal mind because the carnal mind is at war with God, as Romans chapter 8 says. Take the book of Revelation, for instance. The beginning of the book of Revelation says:

[Revelation 1:1-3]

“[1] The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John: [2] Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw. [3] Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.”

And, yet, the prophecies contained in the holy book of Revelation don’t make sense to the carnal mind. Romans 8:5-7 says:

[Romans 8:5-7]

“[5] For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. [6] For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. [7] Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.”

Chapter 1

The Outskirts of Paris, France. 2038 A.D. {Matthew Jeremiah}

[Note: All the dates and years in this story / documentary / message from God are fictional. The timing of these events could be much sooner than 2034 or 2038 A.D.]

A Caucasian man stepped out of a house in the outskirts of Paris, France. Turning his head left and then right, Matthew Jeremiah, a 42-year-old American, stepped onto a sidewalk, leaving the house behind. He was of average height and build, and had brown, 3-cm-long hair and a short beard.

Even though he felt like increasing his pace, Matthew made himself walk unhurriedly down the street, distancing himself from the house where he had just met with a handful of underground Christians. Forty minutes later, his wife Sarah would leave the house. Then, another friend of theirs would follow after more time had elapsed.

As he walked, high-tech surveillance cameras monitored his every move. Biometric software and databases of information collected on him enabled supercomputers to identify him as he moved about. They could also “predict” his next actions with 65 percent accuracy. Thanks to God’s protection, he had avoided being caught and sent to a concentration camp.

The late David J. Meyer, a former witch, became a believer in Jesus Christ and left witchcraft. He then exposed the real witchcraft in some popular books for children and adults. David J. Meyer wrote:

“As a former witch, astrologer, and occultist who has been saved by the grace of God, I know that the works of C.S. Lewis are required reading by neophyte witches, especially in the United States and England. This includes The Chronicles of Narnia, because it teaches neophyte, or new witches, the basic mindset of the craft. Released to the world in 1977, Star Wars became a powerful phenomenon which drew millions of people into its profound influence. Christians need to be aware of the messages and themes in Star Wars, especially since the Bible warned us about deceivers and evil people who would conduct amazing signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, God's people. 

The darkness in our world is increasing. In the dark waters of this world, we need God's Holy Spirit and His Holy Bible to guide us when we consider the popular things in our culture and world.

Philippians chapter 4, verse 1 reveals a profound truth about God’s love for us, which God put into the heart of Paul for the church at Philippi.

Philippians 4:1 --  “[1] Therefore, my brethren dearly beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved.” [End quote]

In Philippians 1:8, Paul wrote this:

Philippians 1:8 -- “[8] For God is my record, how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ.” [End quote]        

{Note: Paul longed after them in the nature of the deep, compassionate, yearning love of Jesus Christ. (Bowels refers to deep love, yearning, earnest desire, deep feelings). Jesus Christ and God the Father have this deep, yearning love and compassion, and deep feeling for the Church and for the whole world. See John 17:23.}

Arriving at the First Destination

Wind billowed the square sails of the galleon Red Jasper as it sailed across the placid sea. The moon’s reflection undulated with the water as the three-masted ship passed across the watery wilderness. Stars covered the night sky like an array of diamonds on black velvet. 

The ship had been at sea for five days after leaving the port town of Blanco Risco. Pablo Campo-verde, the captain of the ship, had told his passengers that an island was about a two days voyage from Blanco Risco. He planned to stop at that island before continuing the voyage across the ocean to the mysterious country of Viviente Muerte. That country was the last stop before eight pilgrim knights--Pablo’s passengers--would reach the gate of the Kingdom of Heaven.

“Land ho!” a lookout said from the crow’s nest on the mainmast (i.e. the tallest mast).

[Crow’s nest: This was a platform with a wooden railing on which the lookout, a sailor, had a good view of what lay ahead. The crow’s nest was often located partway up the mainmast.]

A sailor on the half deck (or stern deck) cried up to the lookout, “Henrico, where do you see land?”

[Note: The half deck was at the rear (or stern) of the ship. It rose above the upper gun deck and provided a decent view. The half deck was the top of the aft castle. The aft castle was a raised portion of the deck in the stern (or rear) of an old sailing ship. The forecastle is located near the bow.]

When the lookout had given him the directions, the man on the half deck turned toward the south east and drew out a spyglass (i.e. hand-held telescope). Sure enough, he could see land. An island rose up from the ocean, resembling a grey rock covered with dark-green vegetation. A mountain rose high above the jungle-cloaked land mass. It appeared to be about three leagues away. [Note: One league is about 3 miles in distance.]
