PART 1: Russian Winter

Four people hiked down the icy path through the snow. Tall pines rose up on either side, like green fingers poking through a white sea. The northern wind whispered through the trees and ruffled woolen and leather parkas. Crunch. Crunch. Crunch. The sound of their footsteps would seem strange to a dweller in the tropics. This thought sometimes flashed across the bearded man’s mind as he crunched through the packed snow slightly ahead of the others.

“Steven,” a woman’s voice came from behind him. “Wait up, please.”

The bearded man stopped and turned to see his wife’s pale face poking out from her hood. She looked beautiful to him with the snow falling around her and her breath coming out in small clouds of vapor.

“Sarah, honey,” Steven said, “how are you doing?”

“I’m feeling a little tired,” Sarah admitted.

“How are we doing?” a man with brown hair and a clean-shaven face asked. He wore a warm, green parka and black boots. Beside him stood a man with a red beard and a leather parka. “Just a little tired, Jason,” Sarah said.

(This section takes place in Russia.)
“Honey,” Steve said, “remember how Father God gave you strength to stay up all night and still hike during the next day?”

“Yes,” Sarah said, nodding, “I do. I get it, Steve. I should ask God for strength.”

“Yes,” Steve said. “He will give you what you need. Remember what Paul wrote in Philippians 4:13? He said: ‘I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.’

“You’re right,” Sarah chuckled. “I sometimes forget.” Turning to where she sensed Jesus to be standing, Sarah said, “Dear Jesus, will you give me the strength to keep walking. You know I’ve struggled to believe you sometimes, but I choose to trust you to strengthen me even though you know I’m tired.”

“My daughter,” Jesus said to her spirit and soul, “I am with you and I will never leave you, nor forsake you. Rest in Me. I will give you the strength you need to reach the village. It is only a couple miles from here. I will take good care of you. Rest in Me.”

“Yes Lord Jesus,” Sarah said, “I choose to trust you. Thank you that you will help me.”

The group continued walking and Sarah soon started to walk faster.

“Sarah, you’re picking up speed,” Steve said, excitedly. “Praise God! He’s answered your prayer.”

“Amen. He sure has,” Sarah said, smiling.

Less than forty minutes later, a small village appeared at the base of a mountain. Wispy smoke rose up into the late-evening air from chimneys in small izba cottages. Simple wood buildings formed the majority of the town’s structures while graveled streets divided the village up into a rough grid layout. In the distance, standing like massive, limbless trees, three tall smoke stacks rose up out of the forest from a mostly concealed, rundown factory complex. The forest had started to grow up around the complex over the decades since it was closed. The woods were starting to eat up the land that had once belonged to derelict, soviet-era collective farms near the edge of the town.

Passing through the streets, the small group came to an izba, or cabin house, just two blocks from the edge of the village. It was somewhat larger than nearby homes. The red-bearded man stepped from behind Steve and approached the front door of the izba. He knocked three times. There was no answer. He placed his mouth close to the door and spoke somewhat loudly in Russian, “Sergey, it’s me, Alexei. I have some people with me who love the Lord. You can trust them. If you are not sure, seek God.”

“I will,” a man’s muffled voice came weakly through the door.

Half a minute passed. The door was still locked shut. Wind blew along the ground, stirring up powder and sent snow flurries sprinkling against their thick coats. Steve was glad for the coat, but he remembered what Abba Father God had told him regarding staying warm. It was God who ultimately would make sure Steve was safely warm. Still, Steve wondered if the door would remain closed. The temperature was dropping to probably below -10 degrees Fahrenheit. Later that night it would drop even more.

A minute later, a scraping sound came from behind the cabin door. Could it be a gun? The thought flashed in Steve’s mind, but he rejected it. God also promised to protect him from guns and from weapons. Strong angels always maintained a watchful guard around all Christians, and had the power to supernaturally protect believers.

The door swung open and a burly man with a brown, medium-length beard peered out at the bundled up people in the snow. He wore a brown, wooly vest, a green flannel shirt, and tan wool trousers.

“Come in,” he said in Russian, “but make sure you don’t attract attention.”

The group filed into his cabin quickly and the Russian quietly closed and bolted his door. A small fire crackled and popped in a green, pot belly stove and caused a tea kettle to simmer on the stove top. An old couch, with quilts hung over it, rested up against one wall, below a small window. The red-bearded Alexei plopped down into the couch cushions, followed by Jason. A rocking chair occupied a corner of the living room space on which rested a sleepy, brown cat. The cat eyed the strangers with some curiosity before it closed its eyes and rested its head to nap.

“Now,” the Russian host said in Russian, “God showed me that you are His children and that I should trust you. So, I will. You are welcome here as long as you like.”

“Thank you for your hospitality, Mr. ...?” Steve said.

“Oh, forgive me, Steve,” Alexei said. “This is Sergey Ivanov. He is a rural blacksmith. He once was the mayor of this town some years ago.”

“And, this is Steven O’Neill and his wife Sarah.” Alexei motioned toward the couple. Motioning toward the clean-shaven man, he said, “And, this is Jason Harper.”

“It’s a pleasure to meet you,” Sergey said as he shook hands with the married couple, and then the two other men.

“And, of course you know I’m Alexei Khlebov,” Alexei added, grinning.

Sergey chuckled. “Yes, my friend, I’ve known you for some time.”

Motioning toward the steaming kettle, Sergey said, “Does anyone want some tea? I was hoping to hear your reasons for coming to Medvedski.”

Even though Steve never learned the Russian language from anyone, he spoke it fluently and understood it when people spoke Russian to him. Sometimes, however, he didn’t understand signs in Russian. But, understanding and speaking Russian was a supernatural gift that God had given Steve, Sarah, and Jason, and the people in the book of Acts.

“We have come to warn the people of this village about the judgment that God will have to bring down on Russia, due to its sins against Him,” Steven said. (See "Footnote.")

“What might that judgment be?” Sergey asked, curious.

“There will be great shakings in Russia that will strike its finances and economy,” Steve said. “But, this will also strike the economies of all countries in the entire world. Russia will suffer greatly through the shaking, but it will hold together, but just by a thread.

“Life will be very hard for all who do not call upon Jesus during the difficult times ahead. God has sent us to warn Russians in the rural areas to seek God and make Jesus their personal Lord and Savior. We are a type of missionary that God is calling in these last days.”

“May I ask a question, Sergey?” Sarah asked.

Steve’s Warning

Smoke wafted upwards through vents in a propane barbecue grill and dispersed into the fresh autumn air. A blue sky and bright sun provided cheerful colors to the city park below. Birds perched in the upper branches of maple trees sang happy notes while squirrels scampered through the trees and on the grass. The leaves were changing color from green to red and golden, and some had made their fluttering descent to the grass below.

A group of twenty-three people gathered under an open, round, wooden gazebo, chatting, arranging dishes, and socializing. Some children played with sticks and toys nearby, laughing and making sound effects with their mouths. Steve and his parents arrived a little late. They walked toward the group from a nearby parking lot. As they walked, Steve felt some fear, but he chose to give it to God, knowing that his Heavenly Father cared about him, and would guide him in what to say to this group of relatives and in-laws. He didn’t have time to share all his dreams and visions with them, but he could share something with them.

Steve could see his uncle, Max, pulling out a box and removing some objects from it. Max whistled to the children, and they looked up at him, curious. Then, he removed some colored tennis balls and started juggling two of them. He then deftly added another, and another. In a few seconds, Max was juggling a dozen colored spheres. Children watched him, mesmerized by the performance.

Steve’s aunt Margaret, a middle-aged lady with glasses and medium-brown hair, looked up from a dish of Chicken Manicotti she had just set down.

“Hello, Steve,” she said cheerfully as he neared the gazebo, “how is my brother’s only son doing?”

“I’m well,” Steve said, smiling. He was feeling the fear leave. “How are you and Uncle Jason?”

“We’re holding together as best as we can,” She said, chuckling.

“How are Billy and Fred?” Steve asked.

“They’re doing good. Billy just started college at the Westview Ridge Music Academy. He’s an excellent trumpet player.”

Steve glanced away and noticed his cousin, Billy, chatting with Henry and Mary, who were part Chinese, due to Chinese blood from their mother, Lin Cheng. Steve enjoyed talking with them. They seemed to love God and were good musicians. Mary played the flute in a volunteer orchestra, while her brother Henry did small performances on a grand piano. But, both enjoyed playing hymns too.

Steve returned his attention to his aunt. They chatted a bit more before someone near the barbecue grill announced: “The food is ready!” Then, the relatives formed a line, waiting their turn to pile their plates with food. As they waited, Steve overheard his uncle Terry, standing in front of him, discussing the latest football game of his favorite team with his brother-in-law, Jim. He described the game in detail, and only paused to let Jim add some comments.

Jim’s Catholic wife, Sarah, standing beside him, spoke to Terry when the conversation went to a lull. “So, Terry,” Sarah said, “have you and Angela thought about visiting St. Steven’s with us this Sunday?”  [See “Footnote” 1.].

“Sarah, thanks for the invite, but if I had a religion, it would be football,” Terry said, chuckling.

“Maybe you’d like to visit a protestant church, then?” Sarah asked.

“A football game is my church,” Steve said, grinning. “You’ve got multitudes of faithful fans, plenty of action, and convenient food and beverages.”

Steve took some mental notes on the conversation before he took a hamburger from the grill and took his plate to a picnic table. He sat beside his cousin Henry and they visited for a little while, and discussed their favorite verses in the Bible, and talked about music. After some time passed, Steve stood up and walked toward a water container with a tap. As he filled up his glass, a voice spoke to his spirit and soul. It was his Abba Father God’s loving and kind voice.

“My son,” Abba God said, “I am with you. You have done well. Now, very soon, I will have you speak to your relatives and give them a warning, like you saw Frank do in the dream I gave you. I will have you warn them about the judgment to come, and have you tell them that they need to repent and seek Me.

“I will be with your mouth and will give you the words to say. Don’t be afraid. It will go well. Now, go ahead and call them to listen to you. I will be with your mouth to give you the words. And, I the Lord your God and Father have spoken.”

Steve felt some fear attacking him and said, “Dear Abba Father, I feel afraid. I feel that they would reject me if I spoke. They would feel that I interrupted their family time.”

“My son,” Abba God said, “I am with you. I will guide you in what to say. Just give your fear to Me, and know that I shall work on their hearts. Some may reject what you say, but others will receive it. I will be with you always. And, I the Lord your God and Abba Father have spoken.”

“Thank you, Abba Father. I give you this fear that I’m feeling of being rejected,” Steve said with meaning. As he did, he felt more peace reach into his heart and the conviction that what Abba God said was truly from Him. Steve realized that his relatives really needed to hear this message God was putting on his heart.

Steve took a drink from his cup and set it down. Now, with a new boldness starting to come over him, he cleared his throat and spoke to the group. “Excuse me,” Steve said. But, his voice was only somewhat louder than the average chatter, and no one seemed to notice.

“Excuse me, everyone,” Steve said louder as he picked up two metal spoons and tinged them against each other.

Now, more people were looking his direction, but some continued their conversations. But, in a few moments, others made them aware that Steve was trying to get their attention. Soon, all the children and adults were looking at him.

The Pastor’s Office

Steve saw the scene before him of the youth group vanish to be replaced with a comfortably decorated office. A middle-aged man sat behind an oak desk talking to a teen guy on the other side. Scattered throughout the room, framed snapshots of basketball history captured players shooting hoops or slam-dunking. A couple of Thomas Kinkade’s lighthouse paintings hung on either side of the office. A window behind the man revealed a green, scratchy wall of juniper bushes outside. High above the man’s head hung a painting of a cross and an empty tomb.

“Pastor Ben,” Frank said as he faced the middle-aged man across the desk. “God showed me he would like me to give a message of warning to the church. He is calling out to people to repent and seek Him, because judgment is soon to fall on this land, because it has done wickedly before Him.”

Ben, who appeared to be in his mid-fifties, had white hair at his temples but the rest of his hair was black. A long grey goatee sprouted from his chin and reached down past the collar of his dark green polo shirt. In his fingers he fidgeted with a silver pen.

“You’re telling me that God showed you He wanted you to warn this church about judgment coming?” Ben said. “I preach to the people, and I even tell them they should stay away from harmful behaviors. Why would God want to warn the people of this church? I think we’re doing a good work here.”

Frank, wearing a dark blue T-shirt and carpenter jeans, was in the middle of a conversation when Steve saw the scene appear before him, in this vision.

“I encourage you to seek God about this,” Frank said with concern. “God has shown me that there are many people in your church that do not know His Name. They say they are Christians, but they have not truly asked Jesus to be their personal Savior and Lord. That is what God shown me. He wants to warn them. Please, seek God about this.”

The older man grunted and leaned back in his chair. A frown creased his face as he tapped his pen on the oak desk. Ben closed his eyes, in thought, and opened them slowly several seconds later. ‘What was Ben thinking about?’ Steve wondered. ‘Was he taking the message seriously?’ Half a minute passed before the pastor spoke.

“Young man,” Ben said slowly with a cold tone in his voice, “I think God is pleased with what we’re doing at this church, and I believe you possibly may have heard from the wrong spirit. But, just to be fair, I will seek God about this and see what He shows me. Is there anything else you wish to talk about?”

Frank felt a sadness stir his heart. He could tell that the pastor had rejected what he had just said. “Pastor Ben, I encourage you to actually seek God with an open mind. God will show you the truth.”

“Is there anything else I can do for you?” Ben asked, seeking to get the young man out of his office.

Frank stood up and said, “I know that if you seek God about this He will show you the truth.”

“You already said that. I will seek Him.”

Frank left the office and the pastor shut the door behind him. Once he was sure Frank was gone, Ben reached for his phone and dialed some numbers. The phone rang three times before a man on the other end picked up his phone.

Chapter 13

Messenger to the Youth Group

Steve was translated next to a church building with a large, carpeted room that was filled with table games, such as pool tables, air hockey tables, and foosball tables. Teens were sitting in couches and folding chairs, listening to a man in his forties give a talk. He must be the youth pastor, Steve thought. The youth pastor wore glasses and had a graying goatee, but the rest of his hair was medium brown. He wore a dark T-shirt displaying an image of a rock band.

“Okay, so for our Fall Youth Retreat we were planning with Pastor Ben to take you to see a rock concert, but this concert will be an opportunity to bring your non-Christian friends and get them into your groove, if you know what I mean. They may not want to visit this church until the ice is broken, and what better way to break ice than to take them to a rock concert? So, we--”

“Hey Stan,” a guy nearby called out, raising a hand.

“Yes, Trevor?” Stan said.

“What band is performing?”

“Oh, I was going to get to that. It’s actually called Pyramid Eye. It’s a new band, but its popularity has soared in just the last three months.”

“Hey Pastor Stan,” another guy said with a wry smile, “didn’t its lead singer say he made a pact with the devil? I’m all for seeing a devil-worshiper. Let’s put on our pointy horns and grab our pitch forks.”

“Ha, ha,” Stan said. “That’s very funny, James. You can’t believe everything you hear. Some people say that this country is controlled by a secret society called the Illuminati.”

As he said “Illuminati,” Stan put up finger quotation marks.

What the youth leader just said made Steve begin to think. The Illuminati? Who were they? Steve made a mental note to research that later.

The scene changed to the same room but most of the teens had left. A few guys and girls were playing pool in a corner of the large youth hangout room. A young man approached the youth pastor just as he said goodbye to a teen girl who was being picked up by her mother. The teen guy had dark brown hair that was bushy and less than two inches long, combed back. He was average height for a 17-year-old. A white T-shirt with two words on it caught Steve’s attention. In bold letters it declared: “Jesus Saves.”

“Excuse me, Stan,” the guy said, “may I have a word with you?”

“Sure, Frank. What’s up?” Stan said.

Chapter 12

Hollywood

Instantly, the church sanctuary vanished to be replaced by a living room with couches facing a flat screen TV. A small group of people sat and munched on popcorn as speakers mounted around the room throbbed with deep, booming sounds. A car chase was in motion on the large screen. Tires screeched and sirens blared as several police cars followed behind a reckless driver in a shiny, red Lamborghini Aventador, which had white racing stripes.

The Aventador raced toward a pile of rubble that formed a jump. In seconds, it sailed off the jump and over a concrete wall before landing in some sand on the other side, but the sand contained a surprise. Collapsible spike strips had been set up, in the sand, in anticipation for the Aventador’s move. The moment its tires hit the ground, they deflated with a loud hiss. The driver flung his door open and leapt out of the car.

He drew a pistol from his belt and headed toward a tall chain link fence. On the other side, a maze of alleys and older brick buildings looked promising for an escape. Police cars pulled into the vacant lot and tried to drive in close to the Aventador, but piles of junk left here and there hindered the police cars from getting closer to the fence.

Chapter 11

The Attack

Steve was translated or moved quickly to a spot about three hundred feet above coastal water. A few miles away, the sandy beach of the California coast appeared. Palm trees swayed in the sea breeze and some sailboats plied through the water. The sun caused the sea to sparkle as it rolled up and down in a perpetual undulation. Then, Steve looked directly below him and saw a large, dark shape below the surface of the ocean crawl to a stand-still. It looked like a huge whale, but this was much larger than a whale. Now, Jesus took Steve down toward the water.

“Jesus, I don’t want to drown,” he said as he saw the water closing in.

“My son, you won’t because this is a vision,” Jesus said.

Steve descended through the water and saw small fish darting here and there, in a frenzy. The dark shape of a conning tower loomed off to his left, and the hull of a large submarine drew closer. He was somehow able to see the inside of the submarine without being physically present. A flurry of activity had been set in motion within the submarine. Men spoke in Russian, giving orders and acknowledging orders. [See the "Note" at the end.]

Steve somehow understood that orders had reached the submarine from top-ranking military officials, who themselves had been given orders from the highest visible authority in the Russian government. Officers were moving about from one control panel to another, overseeing a complex procedure. Lighted buttons were being pressed by crew members while the commanding officer and executive officer gave orders.

Steve lost track of what happened next, but he felt the submarine begin to shake. Suddenly, he was moved up through the submarine and into the water above its launch tubes. A hatch flew open and a missile blasted through the water, churning it up as it rocketed skyward. A second hatch opened, followed by a third. The water churned and boiled as missiles blasted up through the depths. Steve was drawn up through the water and into the air above the sea. Exhaust trails snaked through the air, coming from the ocean surface directly above the nuclear submarine.

Then, Steve was moved forward, and accelerated, up into the atmosphere, to an incredible speed of 180,000 miles per hour. The continental United States passed by in a blur of colors. In seconds, Steve saw California and the arid Great Basin of Nevada, zip by. The Great Plains and the Midwest with its farm fields, deciduous forests, and sprawling cities raced by. In seconds, the New England states appeared.

Steve slowed to a stop and tried to see where he was at. He could not tell exactly what state it was, but he could now see a large military base spread out below him, about a hundred feet beneath him. Suburban neighborhoods that seemed to stretch out from a city center reached up to the perimeter of the military base. Steve was not familiar with military bases or their locations, but he could tell it was a significant installation.

Something made him think to look up, and as he did, Steve noticed a white line of smoke appear in the blue sky above. It was an exhaust trail from a missile. He knew all too well what it was. In seconds, it descended toward the base and detonated into a blinding flash of light and smoke about eighty feet above the ground. A deafening explosion pulsed through the air, following a powerful shock wave that knocked buildings over as if they were toys.

Chapter 10

The Financial Collapse

Steve watched the farm fields vanish before his eyes and the interior of an upper middle-class, two-story house appear. He was standing a couple yards away from a dinner table around which sat a small family. The man of the house looked like the average white-collar, upper-middle-class householder. He had well-groomed, dark hair, stylish glasses, and a blue dress shirt tucked into tan slacks. His wife wore stylish clothing and gold jewelry. She kept an eye out for her 4-year-old son, who sat beside her, calmly eating the spaghetti on his plate. Tomato sauce appeared on either side of his mouth and some on the tip of his nose. His mother took a napkin to dab it off. Beside the dad sat a 7-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy. They ate quietly, sensing anxiety and tension in the atmosphere.

“Patrick,” the wife said, “could we talk about this after supper?”

They must be in the middle of a conversation, Steve thought as he observed.

“The kids need to know too, Jennifer,” the husband said between bites.

“What is it, daddy?” the little girl said, looking up at her dad with concern.

“Our country is facing some hard times, kids,” Patrick said. “My pay has not been going up, but food prices are rapidly climbing. The price of a gallon of milk rose by a dollar in just two weeks. The price of a block of cheese rose by 50 cents in just seven days. Cereal prices have gone up too. A box of my favorite brand of cereal costs a dollar more than it did three weeks ago.

“At this rate, if this continues, we’ll eventually have to start going to the food shelter to supplement my income or, we’ll have to eat beans and rice. The interest on my monthly mortgage payments has gone up too. If the interest continues to rise, I wouldn’t be able to continue living here. We would have to get an apartment or a smaller house. Also, my company announced that it will have to let go, or fire, thirty positions because it is shrinking to save costs. That means that I might be looking for work elsewhere.”

Jennifer looked at her husband with concern. “But, Patrick, you never mentioned this to be before.”

“That’s because I just heard about it today.”

“The kids don’t need to know this right now, do they?” Jennifer said.

“Dear, they will be affected by it sooner or later, when I won’t be able to buy them any more toys or extra things, and when they see the food we eat coming from a food shelter.”

Jesus touched Steve and the words being spoken faded away.

“My son,” Jesus said, “this family is a typical American family that is experiencing hardships during the days just before the invasion of America. They are suffering from the weak dollar and the poor economic health of your nation. It is weakening and shaking like a top that is wobbling, losing its momentum. Soon, it will fall. I will now show you what it is like for a less-financially-sound family in a lower-income home.”

This is a short story about a young man named Steven who was given dreams
from God that reveal truth God has shown me (the writer) that His Church needs
to hear. Though this is written as fiction, the words spoken by Jesus are actual words
that God showed me. So, this is not just a fictional work. It applies to our current
world and to the Church. I encourage you to seek God about this to find out what He
would show you about this story.

Life in the Camp

In an instant, Steve was taken to a chow hall filled with many tables.  About twelve men sat around each table. He was standing beside a certain table where some men of different ethnic groups were seated, eating soup and bread. A black man was sitting close to Steve, near the end of the table. He chewed slowly and seemed to be pondering over something that troubled him. Beside him, a white man with short, brown hair talked with a red haired man across from him.

Steve listened closely to their conversation, noting that they spoke somewhat quietly.

“Gary, my wife is probably in a camp like ours, but I don’t know exactly what she is doing. I hope she doesn’t have to do the kind of work the Russians make us do,” the red-haired man said. [See the "Footnote" at the end.]

“I don’t think they treat the women to manual labor like they do us, Mike,” Gary, the brown-haired man, replied.

There was a pause of silence between them as both collected their thoughts. “Mike,” Gary said, “did your pastor ever speak about the calamities that we saw unfold in recent times?”

“Pastor?” Mike, said, squinting, trying to understand.

“You told me you went to a Church some time ago.”

“Oh, yes, yes, I did,” Mike said. “My pastor never taught about destruction or calamity  coming to America. I heard some radio show hosts discuss it, and some friends mentioned it, but I never heard my pastor speak of it. And, I don’t think any of the pastors in my town mentioned it either. Why do you ask?”

“My pastor never mentioned it either,” Gary said. “I kind of felt cheated. He gave me sermons that amounted to little or no spiritual benefit when played out in real life. He never spoke of being persecuted or of denying oneself, taking up one’s cross, and following Jesus. He never once mentioned anything that was controversial, such as judgment on the wicked.”

“I want to stop you,” Mike said with some frustration. “You mean to tell me that you think a Hell and brimstone sermon from a Bible-thumping preacher is what I should be listening to? What about grace and love?”

“My pastor only taught about God’s grace and love,” Gary said calmly. “He never spoke of judgment on sin or of a nation being judged for its wickedness, but I remembered reading about the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah as a young Christian. I was amazed that God would burn a whole city, but Abraham pleaded with God to spare the city if there were just 10 righteous people in the whole city. God agreed to spare it for the sake of 10 righteous people. Abraham had seen God be very merciful to him. But, the whole city of Sodom was so wicked that only Lot was considered righteous. His wife disobeyed God’s command, which was announced by angels to Lot and his family, not to look back at Sodom. But, she did and was turned to a pillar of salt.”

“That was the Old Testament. God is different today. He doesn’t judge,” Mike said, taking a bite from a small chunk of bread.

“She was turned to a pillar of salt because she refused to repent and forsake Sodom in her heart. America has turned from God, and become like Sodom. That is why this country is being judged--”

“This country is not being judged, Gary,” Mike said, angrily. “This is just the consequences of provoking Russia to anger and making foolish financial decisions. It has nothing to do with God’s judgment! God is not the same as He was in the Old Testament.”

“But, I remember a verse where God says that He doesn’t change. James chapter 1 says that there is no variableness with God. When God judges a nation for its wickedness, such as ancient Israel, you can be sure He will judge America, and He is doing that right now.”

“Shut up,” Mike said in a low, cold voice that throbbed with anger. “I don’t want to hear about God. Frankly, I don’t even know if God exists. If He exists, He’s left us to suffer, even though we are Christians. He’s forgotten us.”

(Emperor Titus)
“That is not true. God is judging America for not repenting when He called out to it. I remember reading Jeremiah and Ezekiel. We’re seeing those books unfold in America, just as they did in ancient Israel and Judah. Jesus warned Jerusalem about the Romans destroying their temple and persecuting the Jews, and He warned of a future time when the same thing would be repeated by the Antichrist. Jesus said, in Luke 21:20: ‘And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.’ He went on to warn the Jewish people to flee from Jerusalem and Judea. But this applied to both the attacks on Jerusalem in 70 A.D., by Titus, and the future attacks against the Jews by the Antichrist, in the book of Revelation.”

“I’m done with this topic,” Mike said. Leaning forward, he whispered, “Let’s talk about how we can escape this base, but quietly.”
