Mystery Religion: Appendix

(#1) "In ancient Assyria, Rhea..." Hislop, Alexander. The Two Babylons, pg. 22.

(#2) "In the mystery religions..." Ibid, pg. 54. (Start reading: ‘the woman's promised Seed, "Zero-ashta,"')

(#3) "This “sun-god” boy..." Ibid, pg. 106.

[Note: Hislop Writes: ‘Now, […] in this Yezidi festival, men, women, and children were "PURIFIED" by coming in contact with "the sacred element" of fire. In the rites of Zoroaster, the great Chaldean god, fire occupied precisely the same place. It was laid down as an essential principle in his system, that "he who approached to fire would receive a light from divinity," (TAYLOR'S Jamblichus) and that "through divine fire all the stains produced by generation would be purged away" (PROCLUS, Timaeo).’]

(#4) "Satan knew all about..." (Alexander Hislop. The Two Babylons, pp. 54, 70, 90-91, and 62.)

Pg. 54. ("The Deification of the Child") (bold / underline added)
If there was one who was more deeply concerned in the tragic death of Nimrod than another, it was his wife Semiramis, who, from an originally humble position, had been raised to share with him the throne of Babylon. What, in this emergency shall she do? Shall she quietly forego the pomp and pride to which she has been raised! No.
Though the death of her husband [...] her resolution and unbounded ambition were in nowise checked. [...] her ambition took a still higher flight. In life her husband had been honoured as a hero; in death she will have him worshipped as a god, yea, as the woman's promised Seed, "Zero-ashta," * who was destined to bruise the serpent's head, and who, in doing so, was to have his own heel bruised.
_______
Pg. 70.
The primeval promise [in Genesis 3:15] that the "seed of the woman should bruise the serpent's head," naturally suggested the idea of a miraculous birth. Priestcraft and human presumption set themselves wickedly to anticipate the fulfilment of that promise; and the Babylonian queen seems to have been the first to whom that honour was given. The highest titles were accordingly bestowed upon her. She was called the "queen of heaven." (Jer 44:17,18,19,25) *

Pg. 90-91 (bold / underline added)
Babylon was, at that time, the centre of the civilised world; and thus Paganism, corrupting the Divine symbol as it ever has done, had opportunities of sending forth its debased counterfeit of the truth to all the ends of the earth, through the Mysteries that were affiliated with the great central system in Babylon. Thus the very customs of Christmas still existent cast surprising light at once on the revelations of grace made to all the earth, and the efforts made by Satan and his emissaries to materialise, carnalise, and degrade them.
_______
Pg. 62 (bold / underline added)
Even in Babylon itself, the posthumous child, [...] came to be the favourite type of the Madonna's divine son. This son, thus worshipped in his mother's arms, was looked upon as invested with all the attributes, and called by almost all the names of the promised Messiah. As Christ, in the Hebrew of the Old Testament, was called Adonai, The Lord, so Tammuz was called [by the pagans who knew about the promise in Genesis 3:15] Adon or Adonis. Under the name of Mithras, he was worshipped as the "Mediator." As Mediator and head of the covenant of grace, he was styled Baal-berith, Lord of the Covenant (Judges 8:33). [...] In India, under the name of Vishnu, the Preserver or Saviour of men, though a god, he was worshipped as the great "Victim-Man," who before the worlds were, because there was nothing else to offer, offered himself as a sacrifice. [...] [These pagan nations did not teach or believe that their "messiah" could save them from all sin. The pagans believed they had to help earn their way to salvation by doing works, which the Bible says will never save us. Only Jesus Christ's blood {who is the truth Savior, the true Seed of the woman} can save us from sin. See Ephesians 2:8-9.] [God's Word, the Bible, says in Isaiah 5:20, "Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil..."]
Do any marvel at such a statement being found in the sacred books of a Pagan mythology? Why should they? Since sin entered the world there has been only one way of salvation, and that through the blood of the everlasting covenant--a way that all mankind once knew, from the days of righteous Abel downwards. When Abel, "by faith," [Hebrews 11:4] offered unto God his more excellent sacrifice than that of Cain, it was his faith "in the blood of the Lamb slain," in the purpose of God "from the foundation of the world," [1 Peter 1:20] and in due time to be actually offered up on Calvary, that gave all the "excellence" to his offering. If Abel knew of "the blood of the Lamb," why should Hindoos not have known of it? [These pagans taught another "christ" than the one found in the Bible. See Galatians 1:6-9, 2 Corinthians 11:13-152 Corinthians 11:1-4.]

The Bible says:
Jeremiah 23:21 and 30
21 I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied.
30 Therefore, behold, I am against the prophets, saith the LORD, that steal my words every one from his neighbour.
2 Corinthians 11:13-15
13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

1 Timothy 2:5
5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

Acts 4:12
12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

(#5) "In ancient times, the serpent..." Ibid, pg. 179.

{Note: Alexander Hislop: "The dragon of the Greeks," says Pausanias, "was only a large snake"[...] [Also] what in the third verse [Revelation 12:13] is called a "dragon," in the fourteenth [Revelation 12:14] is simply described as a "serpent."}

(#6) "Ancient Babylonians and other mystery religions..." Ibid, pg. 179.

{Note: The worship of the sun is connected to fire worship. The sun was worshiped as “Baal”. Alexander Hislop said: 'In a fragment of Apollodorus it is said that "Ninus [or Nimrod] taught the Assyrians to worship fire." The sun, as the great source of light and heat, was worshipped under the name of Baal.' (ibid, pg. 179)
Regarding Zoroastrianism and Tammuz, Hislop also writes: 'As he [Tammuz, Nimrod's son], who by the Chaldeans was regarded as the great "Seed," was looked upon as the sun incarnate, and as the emblem of the sun was a circle (BUNSEN), the hieroglyphical relation between zero, "the circle," and zero, "the seed," was easily established.' (ibid, pg. 21)}

(#7) "In Egypt, Osiris was...killed by Set..." Ibid, pg. 57-58. [For more information, click here, go to pg. 57, and start reading at: “If Shem was at that time…”]

(#8) "A serpent forming a circle...(... an ouroboros) was..."

The ouroboros is a snake that forms a circle while eating its tail, used by ancient Egyptians to symbolize the sun (a). Gnostics use the ouroboros to symbolize their sun-god Abraxas (a). This symbol goes back to the civilization at the Tower of Babel when Nimrod set up a new order after God had judged the whole world (for its great sin) with a flood. Nimrod wanted the host of heaven (including the constellations, the moon, and the sun) to be worshiped. When Nimrod died, his followers made him into a "god" and his son, Tammuz, was said to be a reincarnation of Nimrod. Tammuz was called "Baal" and was worshiped along with his mother, Semiramis.

Tammuz was recognized by these ancient pagans as the sun-god who allegedly gave "illumination" to his initiates. The Illuminati originate from Babylon where Tammuz and Semiramis were worshiped. Albert Pike, a 33rd degree Freemason said:
 "...Masonry existed as it now exists, the same in spirit and at heart . . . before even the first colonies emigrated into Southern India, Persia, and Egypt, from the cradle of the human race." (Albert Pike. Morals and Dogma, pg. 207-208)

God desires to have an intimate (close) relationship with those He created.

God wants you to get to know Him personally. You don’t need a man who calls himself a priest. You don’t need to go to a secret order or a secret society. You don’t need to be initiated into a mystery religion.

So, how can you get to know God personally? Sin keeps us from getting to know God personally and sin will bring us down to Hell if we don’t have it cleansed away. How can sin be cleansed away? It can’t be done by works.

Isaiah 64:6 says (bold added), "But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away."

Works cannot save us. But Jesus Christ, God’s Only Begotten Son, died in our place to pay for all our sins, IF WE BELIEVE ON HIM. This means we must take a step of faith and make Jesus Christ our own personal Savior and Lord and believe the truth about Him found in the Bible.

Do you want to take that step of faith and be freed from sin so you can enjoy a good relationship with God, and be saved from eternal damnation?

Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”

Romans 6:23 says, "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

If You Would Like to Have a Relationship with the true God, Be an Adopted Child of God, and Go to Heaven…

God loves us so much that He sent His Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins and shed His precious blood to pay for all of these sins (John 3:16 and 1 Corinthians. 15:3-4). And He rose from the grave on the third day (1 Cor. 15:4).

The Bible says this about Jesus and Salvation:

John 14:6
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

1 Timothy 2:5
“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;”

Acts 4:12
“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”

HOW TO GET SAVED and KNOW GOD:

1. If you believe and confess aloud, genuinely from your heart, that Jesus Christ has paid for all your sins with His precious blood and has risen from the dead (…knowing that you cannot earn this free gift of salvation) (Romans 10:9-10; 1 Corinthians 15:3-5; and Colossians 1:14);

2. And if you repent from your sins (You do this by confessing only to God Himself that you are a sinner and that you want to turn away from sin.) (Romans 3:23; Acts 3:19; and 1 John 1:8-9);

3. And if you have made Jesus Christ your Lord and Savior, you are saved (Jesus cannot be your Lord if you are serving yourself and living selfishly. If He is not your Lord, you would have another master. Jesus said in Luke 16:13: “No servant can serve two masters…”) (Romans 10:9-10 and Luke 16:13).

4. Now seek God with all your heart. Seek to know Him and you will (Jeremiah 29:13).

We need to emphasize this: God does not want us following a strict system of rules in order to please Him. God loves us and is about having a good personal relationship with each one of us as we seek Him and obey Him. God loves you and wants you to get to know Him personally.

John 17:3 says: "And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent."
