The Righteous Judgment of an Ungodly Nation (The Judgment of America)

Dear Reader, please watch this video before you read the article. California is experiencing its worst drought in centuries. This is not an ad.

The Righteous Judgment of an Ungodly Nation

When a nation has a Christian heritage and has been established on moral principles, if it slides away from God (and thus from the moral principles), it will be judged by God according to the Bible in Deuteronomy 28, Deuteronomy 13, and Genesis 19.

In Deuteronomy 28, God—through Moses—is instructing the children of Israel to obey Him and not serve idols (or false gods). He tells them about the blessings He will bestow on those who obey Him.

Deuteronomy 28:1-2 says:

“And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:

2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.”

Verses 1-13 speak of all the ways God would bless those who obey God.  Verse 11-13 says (bold added for emphasis):

America is following the corrupt Roman Empire that reveled in sin
"11 And the LORD shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers to give thee.

12 The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.

13 And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them:

14 And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.”

Are we obeying God? Do we love to serve God with our time? Do we want to know God’s name by having an intimate relationship with Him? (This is not an ad: Click here to find out how to get saved from sin.). Or, do we have idols in our lives? These are serious questions to consider. God has not changed and God cannot change (Hebrews 13:8,  James 1:17).

James 1:17 says:

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.”

Drought in California
There is no variableness with God, the Father of lights. He does not change. Theft is still theft. Adultery is still adultery. In fact, Jesus made it clear that adultery is not just taking another man’s wife, but looking at a woman with lust in one’s heart. Jesus did not lower his standards. He raised them to show that there is no way we can fulfil the law.

James 2:10 says:
”For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.”

Jesus fulfilled the law and died on the cross in our place. And, because we still have a sinful nature, we are still able to sin and we are still able to rebel against God and reject Jesus Christ, even after we have gotten saved (see Hebrews 3).

If we reject God, we are hardening our hearts. Jesus warned Christians in Revelation chapters 2 through 3.

Revelation 3:5 says:

5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

This statement was made to Christians. God will not blot an overcomer’s name out of the book of life. And, in many places in the Gospel accounts, Jesus warned his disciples and other followers that sin could lead them into Hell.

In the Sermon on the Mount, in Matthew 5:28-30, Jesus told his disciples:

28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

29 And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

30 And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

God takes sin very seriously. Jesus is using a metaphor of cutting off ones hand or plucking out one’s eye to show you that you need to get rid of things in your life that lead you to sin. Why? Because, you could harden your heart through the deceitfulness of sin (see Hebrews chapter 3 and verse 13).

Going back to Deuteronomy 28, let’s look at what God says about rebellion, disobedience, and idolatry.

God, through Moses, told the children of Israel these words in Deuteronomy 28:14-15:

14 And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.

15 But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:

Because of its rebellion against God, promotion of evil, murder of babies, self-worship, pride, idolatry, witchcraft, and other sins, ancient Caananites in the land of Israel were judged. Because of similar sins ancient Rome was judged. And, for the past several decades, the United States has been following the trend of willful sin and promotion of sin. And, according to the Bible, it shall also be destroyed as a consequence of its many sins.

God has certain judgments, in Deuteronomy 28, which He said would happen to those who rebel against Him.

Some of these curses are happening today. Deuteronomy 28:18 includes three curses:

1.    Verse 18: “Cursed shall be the fruit of thy body…”
2.    Verse 18: “…and the fruit of thy land,…”
3.    Verse 18: “…the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.”

1.    “Cursed shall be the fruit of thy body…”

Is it possible that these curses are starting to happen to America? The first part, “Cursed shall be the fruit of thy body”, is God’s curse on childbirth. Why would God curse bearing children? In 1973, the Supreme Court decided that children could be murdered if they were inconvenient to their parents. This practice of killing children and infants as sacrifices to Moloch was one reason God chose to judge the ancient Israelites. God had commanded them not to do such an abomination (great sin).

Leviticus 18:21

21 And thou shalt not let any of thy seed pass through the fire to Molech, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the LORD.

But, they disobeyed God and murdered their children.
Baal idol

Jeremiah 32:35

35 And they built the high places of Baal, which are in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire unto Molech; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.

What happened to Judah for this sin?

Jeremiah 39:1-2

In the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, came Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon and all his army against Jerusalem, and they besieged it.

And in the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, the ninth day of the month, the city was broken up.

Skipping down to verses 8 and 9, we read:

8 And the Chaldeans burned the king's house, and the houses of the people, with fire, and brake down the walls of Jerusalem.

9 Then Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive into Babylon the remnant of the people that remained in the city, and those that fell away, that fell to him, with the rest of the people that remained.

This calamity befell the children of Israel because they committed idolatry, rebelled against God, and murdered their children. Some may say that abortion is acceptable because it is a woman’s right to choose. What does God say about “abortion”?

Exodus 20:13

13 Thou shalt not kill.

Is this a life worth saving?
We are not to kill. Is it okay to kill an innocent person? If not, why is it okay to kill an innocent baby that didn’t even get to walk or say “mommy”? Look at the issue from God’s perspective (found in His Word) and you will see why God is angry with America.

What happened to ancient Israel when she served false gods such as Baal? What happened to ancient Israel when she killed her children and gave them to Moloch?

Hosea 13:16

16 Samaria shall become desolate; for she hath rebelled against her God: they shall fall by the sword: their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up.

Certainly, this won’t happen to America, you may say. After all, she has sent out missionaries. She was founded on Christian principles. But, is America a Christian nation today? Is she obeying God? If not, what will happen to America will come as a result of her sin and rebellion against God. Sin and rebellion must be judged.

2 Peter 2:9

9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:

2. And 3. “Cursed shall be…the fruit of thy land, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.”

God, through the prophet Amos, tells Israel that famine will come upon them for their rebellion.

Amos 4:6

6 And I also have given you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and want of bread in all your places: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.

Drought in Texas
Their land was cursed so that the ground would not produce much fruit or crops. This same even is happening to America. Recently, the governor of California, Gov. Jerry Brown, declared a drought emergency on January 17, 2014 (Lloyd, Jonathan and Patrick Healy). He said that that snowpack in the mountains is much smaller than it was last year. The reservoirs and rivers, which supply nearly all the water for California’s vast agricultural fields, are at very low levels. The drought is not only limited to California but it also affects many ranchers in other states, including Texas. According to the Washington Post, ranchers in Texas are getting hit hard by the drought. Paul Looney, a Texan rancher who serves as the vice president of the Independent Cattlemen’s Association, told the Washington Post that, “We were hit across the board in Texas. Everyone had to reduce herd size, so that impacts the whole beef business, from the ranch to the plate. (Campbell, Elizabeth).”

The drought in California will alter food prices in many packaged meals in addition to produce. This will not only affect meat prices in the supermarket, but will also affect packaged food, restaurant menus, canned food, etc. The loss of the herds will drive up the price of beef and other foods. This will hurt an already hurting economy.

In the United States, the number of people of working age has declined while food prices and living expenses are rising. In 2008, after the stock market crash, 61 percent of all working age Americans had a job ("Civilian Employment”). By the end of 2013, only 58.6 percent of all working age Americans were employed ("Civilian Employment”). When the effects of the drought hit the food supply for America, America will most likely see food prices rise. This will cause the Americans who live paycheck to paycheck to suffer more hardship.
Draining reservoirs in California

Milt McGiffen, a field crop expert from the University of California, told VOAnews.com that “The short-term impact [of the drought] is going to be higher food prices. The longer-term impact is going to be you’re just not going to have as much production in the country” (Lee). According to data obtained from the National Chicken Council’s website, the average retail price of beef has increased by over 71 percent from 2000 to 2012 (“Wholesale and Retail”). And, it is sure to increase as herds decrease.

Bill Patzert, a climatologist of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, told VOAnews.com: “Here in California, we’re the breadbasket of the United States, but also we export tremendous volumes of fruits, vegetables and even cattle overseas. And so when these terrible droughts hit and production drops, this echoes around the globe” (Lee). Patzert had said that a drought has been in the western United States for over a decade (Lee).

What happens as a result of a drought? The drought is so serious that McGiffen said that if no technological solution is found, people will die (Lee). The key elements to survival include, air, water, food, clothing, and shelter. Without these essentials, people cannot survive.

And, without God, you cannot survive the judgment of God. Please understand that I am not writing this article with a judgmental spirit. Rather, I write because I want you to know that God is calling people everywhere to repent before it is too late.

Acts 17:30-31

30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.

Make sure you are right with God.

  • Repent from sin by choosing to turn away from it (Acts 3:19).
  • Pray to God and tell God you believe Jesus Christ died to pay for your sins (and mine) (Romans 10:9-10). Ask Jesus Christ to be your Savior and Lord and make Him that.
  • Trust in Jesus Christ’s blood to pay for your sins and believe that He died and rose from the dead for you and me (1 Corinthians 15:3-4).
  • Then, seek God with all your heart (Jeremiah 29:13)

When you turn to God, He will be your shield and your refuge as the Psalms speak of. Just know that if you rebel against God, you are fighting against your Judge and He will not take your rebellion lightly.

  1. HOW TO GET SAVED and KNOW GOD:

First of all Believe in Jesus Christ who He is and what He did.

    1. If you believe and confess aloud that Christ has paid for your sins with his precious blood and has risen from the dead (Romans 10:9-10),
    2. and if you repent (turn away) from your sins (don't continue in sin, but repent from it) (Acts 3:19),
    3. and have made Him your Lord and Savior (again Romans 10:9-10) you are saved.
    4. Now seek God with all your heart. Seek to know Him and you will (Jeremiah 29:13).

John 17:3 says: "And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent."
