America’s Doom: The Cycle of Nations

America’s Doom: The Cycle of Nations
(10/1/14)

Almost 240 years (238 exactly) have passed since the signing of The Declaration of Independence during America’s war for independence from the British Empire. Since that time, America has gone through a number of wars, industrial and economic growth, and has spread its hegemony of power over the globe.

Its power was greatest after the Second World War, after Europe had been devastated by six years of war. America had drawn its power from its war effort and citizenry to defeat Nazi Germany and the Empire of Japan. Both tasks were tremendous, but of course were the result of cooperation with America’s Allies.

After WW2, America entered a period of great economic prosperity which lasted for a few decades. America was exporting more than it was importing. The housing market was booming as American soldiers returned home from the war and had large families.

As people began buying things and enjoying life they gradually became more and more hedonistic, believing that there were no moral absolutes. If people evolved from apes, why should people have to follow the Ten Commandments?

(Sign reads: "If you were born after 1973,

The 1970s and the Vietnam War brought drugs into popular demand. During this period it became more acceptable for a man and woman to live together without getting married. Consequently, abortion was seen as a necessity to get rid of that unwanted baby.

With the Supreme Court decision, Roe V. Wade, making abortion legal, precious infants were treated as if they were something that could be thrown away. Life was considered to be a burden and society determined that it would remove this burden even if it had to break the Ten Commandments, namely: Thou shalt not kill.

With this abomination legalized, the descent away from God and the depravity of man became more blatant and strong. Prayer had been removed from schools, God has been ignored, and the Ten Commandments have been torn down from courthouses. It was not that way hundreds of years ago.

Following in the Footsteps of Rome

Little by little, America, over the past several decades, had been sinking into the dark water of hedonism, rebellion against God, and depravity, like ancient Rome or ancient Greece.

Will Durant, an American historian, wrote of Rome’s moral decay in his book The Story of Civilization: Caesar and Christ (pp 89-90):

“Women won the free administration of their dowries, divorced their husbands or occasionally poisoned them, and doubted the wisdom of bearing children in an age of urban congestion and imperialistic wars. […] Men became brave by proxy; they crowded the amphitheater to see bloody games and hired gladiators to fight before them at their banquets.” (b, see Works Cited)

Women in the Roman Empire were divorcing their husbands and sometimes killing them. The people of Rome had a desire to be entertained with killing and violence. Is this not similar to our present time? Violent and immoral video games, movies, and TV shows have been streaming images of death and destruction and rape into kids, teens, and adults for a few decades.

Evidence of Spiritual and Moral Decay

The amount of people incarcerated (per 100,000 people) has increased from under 100 in 1925 to a little below 500 in 2001 (c, see Works Cited). Ten years later (in 2011), 716 out of every 100,000 people were in prison (d). No country can compete with America's prison population rate which is the largest in the world (d). For instance, China, in 2011, had a prison population rate of 121 compared to America’s 716 (d).
The crime levels in America are very high, especially in big cities, but this alone cannot prove that America is decaying. Very tellingly, the beliefs of “Christians” in America have changed, moving away from what the Bible actually teaches. If those claiming to follow Christ are not obeying His commandments, what reason would the rest of society have for obeying God?

For example, a survey, conducted in 2010 at Reach Workcamps ministry sites across the country, found that of all the “Christian” teens surveyed, 33 percent thought Jesus Christ was not the only way to salvation. They believed that Jesus, Buddha, Islam, and other religions all lead to heaven (e). According to Mike Nappa, who was responsible for the survey, the kids were “cream of the crop” coming from Christian homes (e).

The Bible clearly says…

John 14:6
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

1 Timothy 2:5
“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;”

Acts 4:12
“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”

(Many teens who go to "Church" believe Buddha is
also another way to God.
Jesus Christ said in John 14:6:
"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life:
no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”)

These teenagers’ parents and pastors have clearly failed to teach them the truth of God’s word. Also, the environment in which they live, their schools and friends, have certainly contributed to their wrong belief system.

When people who claim to be “Christian” do not believe God’s Word, why would non-Christians believe? The moral decay of America came as a result of the spiritual decay. People doubted that God exists and that God really created the Universe. Then with doubt that God inspired the whole Bible, people justified sinning.

American Economic Decay

Every culture that decayed morally also decayed economically. When the Roman Empire collapsed it had high inflation. Emperor Nero and others following him debased the Roman currency, causing inflation, to meet the demand for money. During the reign of Claudius II Gothicus (268-270 A.D.) the allegedly pure silver denarius coins had been debased so much that each coin was only .02 percent  silver (f).

Today, the United States Federal Reserve (the Fed) has been conducting what they call “quantitative easing”, a euphemism for inflation. Inflation is initiated by creating electronic cash (based on nothing) which the Fed uses to buy securities--such as U.S. government bonds—from banks. This money eventually reaches the rest of the economy and causes the buying power of the dollar to decrease.

In the United States, the number of people on food stamps has increased from 17.2 million in 2000 (g) to 46.6 million in 2012 (h): an increase of 29.4 million. The number of people on food stamps has only increased over the years, not decreased. This is a sign of a bad economy, similar to the economy of Rome before it collapsed.

Henning Webb. Prentis, Jr., then-president of Armstrong Cork Company, said these words in a 1943 speech to the National Conference Board:

“Again and again after freedom has brought opportunity and some degree of plenty, the competent become selfish, luxury-loving and complacent, the incompetent and the unfortunate grow envious and covetous, and all three groups turn aside from the hard road of freedom to worship the Golden Calf of economic security. The historical cycle seems to be: From bondage to spiritual faith; from spiritual faith to courage; from courage to liberty; from liberty to abundance; from abundance to selfishness; from selfishness to apathy; from apathy to dependency; and from dependency back to bondage once more.

At the stage between apathy and dependency, men always turn in fear to economic and political panaceas.” (Henning W. Prentis, Industrial Management in a Republic, p. 22) (a)

Where is America in this cycle? If you were to look at the bad economy, the crime levels, and the amount of perversion in America (on TV, in books, in society, on the internet, and in many Churches), you would have to conclude that America is going down, not up. How far down do you think America is going? If you were honest, you probably would have to admit America is doomed to collapse. So, where does that leave you? Are you ready for the collapse? More importantly, are you ready to meet the Creator God?

Would you like to find out how to Know God's Name?

IF YOU ARE SEEKING TO KNOW GOD, please read this message.

1 Timothy 2:5: “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;”

Acts 4:12: “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”

God loves us so much that He sent His Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins and shed His precious blood to pay for all of these sins. (See John 3:16 and 1 Corinthians 15:3-5.)

If you repent (turn away) from your sins (Acts 3:19), and believe and confess aloud that Christ has done this for you (Romans 10:9-10), and have made Him your Lord and Savior (again Romans 10:9-10) you are saved.

Now seek God with all your heart. Seek to know Him and you will (Jeremiah 29:13).

John 17:3 says: "And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.”

Jeremiah 29:13 says: “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.”
