How America Now Resembles the Aztec Empire

How America Now Resembles the Aztec Empire

There were different factors that brought about the end of the Aztec Empire. The foremost factor was their bloodshed culture. Thousands of innocent victims were murdered in human-sacrifice rituals to honor the gods of the Aztecs. Consequently, tribes which had lost family members to the murderous Aztec religion were willing to assist Hernán Cortés in fighting their oppressive overlords. With the assistance of the disgruntled native people, Cortés was able to bring a quick end to the Aztec Empire.

In this article, we will see how America is following, to some degree, in the footsteps of the Aztecs. That may sound very strange to you, but please bear with me as we examine some factors that led to the demise of the Aztec Empire. We will attempt to show how these are related to America.

The Aztec Empire’s Bloodshed Culture

The Aztecs had a religion which worshipped many gods. To appease their gods and gain benefits, the Aztecs conducted mass human sacrifices in temples. During the dedication of the temple of Huitzilopochtili, in the Aztec capital of Tenochtitlan, over 80 thousand people were murdered to appease the gods. (See “Collins” in the Works Cited section.) Their bodies were sacrificed in a gruesome way that I won’t repeat here. But, it was brutal.

In America, as of the year 2018, the total number of abortions in the country has surpassed the 60 million mark (Ertelt). Over 60 million precious children have been murdered in a state of total innocence. They had no power to escape death. Their bodies were brutally killed to appease the gods of selfishness, murder, and love of money. The “priests” that conducted the murders used sharp instruments just like the Aztec priests of the 16th century.

America has a bloodshed culture. When a girl gets pregnant and doesn’t want to have to raise her child or find an adoption agency, she can legally decide to take the life of her child. By doing so she is committing murder and is guilty of breaking God’s laws, the Ten Commandments. Exodus 20:13 simply says: “[13] Thou shalt not kill.”

Revelation 21:8 gives this warning: “[8] But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” [Emphasis added.]

Aztec Greed and Expansion Parallels that of America

Getting back to the Aztecs, we can see that they were a very evil nation. They murdered thousands of people to honor their gods and they oppressed neighboring tribes. Warriors were sent out to conquer towns and regions to further expand the Aztec empire and to increase their wealth. As their wealth increased, their greed for it increased too. Greed drove the Aztecs to conquer more and more land and subjugate more and more towns (Collins). Their capital Tenochtitlan became a powerful cultural, religious, and military center due to their greed and conquest.

Like the Aztecs, America has greatly expanded its territory. It began with the original 13 colonies but it expanded to a total of 50 states. The amount of land it took from Native American people is staggering. During and after this conquest, Native Americans had been oppressed and mistreated. The sad tale of U.S. greed for land and capital is illustrated by the words of Chief Joseph, of the Nez Perce tribe.

In 1879, after the defeat of his people in 1877, Chief Joseph told the North American Review the words in the following paragraphs. As you read them, please try to place yourself in his shoes. Imagine being oppressed by foreigners taking over your land and stealing from your people. And, imagine being treated as if you were "inferior" to these foreigners. (Portions of this speech are omitted to save time.) Chief Joseph said:

"White men found gold in the mountains around the land of the Winding Water. They stole a great many horses from us and we could not get them back because we were Indians. The white men told lies for each other. … Some white men branded our young cattle so they could claim them. We had no friends who would plead our cause before the law councils. It seemed to me that some of the white men in Wallowa were doing these things on purpose to get up a war. They knew we were not strong enough to fight them. I labored hard to avoid trouble and bloodshed.

We gave up some of our country to the white men, thinking that then we could have peace. We were mistaken. The white men would not let us alone. ...

... I am tired of fighting. Our chiefs are killed. . . . The old men are all dead. . . . It is cold and we have no blankets. The little children are freezing to death. My people—some of them have run away to the hills and have no blankets and no food. ... Hear me, my chiefs, my heart is sick and sad. … I will fight no more against the white man.

... It makes my heart sick when I remember all the good words and all the broken promises. ...” [End quote] ("An Indian's Perspective...").

The Religion of Money and Greed

America, like the Aztecs, is a nation full of greed and covetousness. It expanded across the continent from the east to the west and took Native American land, due to greed. But, America still loves materialism and mammon (the love of money) today. ValuePenguin.com said: “…the average American today holds 52% more debt today than they did a decade ago.” They came to this conclusion by examining data from the U.S. Census Bureau and from the U.S. Federal Reserve.

Prosperity preachers in the U.S. often have over-emphasized gaining material possessions more than spiritual wealth, which comes from God and His Word alone. But, the apostle Paul wrote these words:

“[9] But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. [10] For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” [End quote.] [1 Timothy 6:9-10.]

The Bible warns that seeking wealth or loving money brings destruction and perdition (damnation in Hell). America has pursued money and even followed preachers that taught about seeking wealth. God’s Word warns that the end of such a pursuit is misery and damnation.

The greedy, wicked, murderous, idolatrous Aztecs experienced great suffering when their empire collapsed. Will America escape judgment for its wickedness? Before we look at that question, let’s take a look at the Aztec religion, specifically their fascination with the occult.

The Aztec’s Love for the Occult

The Aztec’s believed that magic spells, incantations, and potions could cure diseases and bring other benefits. If a child was sick, an Aztec ticitl, or witchdoctor, would be called in to perform magic ceremonies to heal the child. The witchdoctor would pray to gods, cast spells, and use magic incantations and formulas to bring about a “healing” (See “Black Magic” in the Works Cited section). Their religion of human sacrifices was centered on the sun-worship and magic.

The occult also has a strong influence in America. The U.S. census of 2010 revealed that witchcraft has become the fourth largest religion in the United States. Occult books, movies, and occult fiction novels are very popular in the U.S. today. The Bible says this about sorcery in all its forms:

“[10] There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,
[11] or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.
[12] For all that do these things are an abomination unto the Lord : and because of these abominations the Lord thy God doth drive them out from before thee.”
[Deuteronomy 18:10-12.]

As we saw earlier, Revelation 21:8 warns: “[8] But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” [Emphasis added.]

Conclusion

A nation which kills its infants by the millions; steals land and resources from first-nations people; loves the idol of money; and has a fascination with the occult (in all its forms, including fiction) will be judged. Listen to the words of the ancient book of Jeremiah regarding Babylon and how God would have to judge it for its wickedness. After you read the Bible passages below, please stop and think about how this pertains to any nation which becomes very rebellious against God. Could this not also be speaking of America?

Jeremiah 50:1-3 says:

"[1] The word that the Lord spake against Babylon and against the land of the Chaldeans by Jeremiah the prophet. [2] Declare ye among the nations, and publish, and set up a standard ; publish, and conceal not : say, Babylon is taken, Bel is confounded, Merodach is broken in pieces ; her idols are confounded, her images are broken in pieces. [3] For out of the north there cometh up a nation against her, which shall make her land desolate, and none shall dwell therein : they shall remove, they shall depart, both man and beast."

Jeremiah 50:29-32 says:

"[29] Call together the archers against Babylon : all ye that bend the bow, camp against it round about ; let none thereof escape : recompense her according to her work ; according to all that she hath done, do unto her : for she hath been proud against the Lord, against the Holy One of Israel. [30] Therefore shall her young men fall in the streets, and all her men of war shall be cut off in that day, saith the Lord.

[31] Behold, I am against thee, O thou most proud, saith the Lord God of hosts : for thy day is come, the time that I will visit thee. [32] And the most proud shall stumble and fall, and none shall raise him up : and I will kindle a fire in his cities, and it shall devour all round about him.” [End quote.]
