MATTHEW CHAPTER 6 - Laying up Treasure in Heaven - (With Footnotes)

MATTHEW CHAPTER 6

- Laying up Treasure in Heaven - (With Footnotes)

🌎 [Matthew 6:1-8]

1 Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.
2 Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
3 But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:
4 That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

Notes:

(See Matt. 6:7-8)… We don’t perform for God because God provides all our needs for free. (See Matthew 7:7-11 and Romans 8:32.
Romans 8:32 says: “He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?”)

Performing for God is doubt and pride, and it is glorying in the flesh. It is having confidence in the flesh (or oneself). (See Galatians 6:11-14 and Philippians 3:3-10.)

Philippians 3:3 says: “For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.”

Is the Jersey Devil Real? — (The Nature of Encounters with the Unexplained or Paranormal)

Notice: This article is not appropriate for children under 14 years of age.

Is the Jersey Devil Real? —  (The Nature of Encounters with the Unexplained or Paranormal)

For many years people have been encountering strange beings that take on a variety of forms. They often appear at night or in the twilight and they behave in ways unlike any known animal. Some have feet that resemble human feet, only much larger. Others fly with bat-like wings. Many have red, glowing eyes. What are these creatures? Are they animals? Are they aliens? Are they spirits? Are they purely fictional? Or, are they something else entirely?

THE JERSEY DEVIL

For hundreds of years, a cryptid creature (or creatures) was (were) seen in the thick, mostly uninhabited forests of New Jersey, called the "pine barrens." It is a region of the state consisting of thickets, evergreen trees, ponds, and dense undergrowth. Strange creatures collectively called the "Jersey Devil" were reportedly seen by thousands of people for over 250 years in the state of New Jersey and mostly in the pine barrens.

Is the Bigfoot Real? — The Nature of Bigfoot (Sasquatch), UFOs, Paranormal Creatures, and Bigfoot Attacks

Notice: This article is not appropriate for children under 14 years of age.

Is the Bigfoot Real? — The Nature of Bigfoot (Sasquatch), UFOs, Paranormal Creatures, and Bigfoot Attacks

For many years people have been encountering strange, tall beings that walk on two legs like a man and appear completely covered in thick hair or fur. Bizarrely, their feet resemble human feet, only much larger. What are these creatures? Are they animals? Are they aliens? Are they spirits? Are they purely fictional? Or, are they something else entirely?

In this article, we will relate a Bigfoot attack and look into the true nature of this creature.

SASQUATCH (BIGFOOT) SIGHTINGS

Native Americans from British Columbia and throughout the United States have spoken of a mysterious, ape-like, man-like beast they call the Esti Capcaki, Atahsaia, Ot ne yar heh, and other names. But, the most well-known are sasquatch and Bigfoot.

(Bigfoot plaster cast. Click for source.)
The tall, hairy creature has been described by many people as being about 6 to 9 feet in height, weighing about 800 pounds (maximum), and walking on two feet ("Mysterious Ape ..."). It has been heard to let out a loud, chilling call. People have described it as being ape-like or man-like and covered in thick fur.

Some sasquatch appear to be shy. But, others are more aggressive and have been known to throw stones at buildings, chase people, and vandalize cabins.

Attack in Vancouver Island

One night in 2004, Ted Story (or Ted Storey) was sleeping in his motor home in the densely-forested Strathcona Provincial Park, which is located in the middle of Vancouver Island. (Source: Monster Quest: Mysterious Ape Island.)

Regarding the sasquatch creature, Ted said: "I thought it was a myth or—[I] had no belief in any of that at all. That night, it made me a believer." ("Mysterious Ape ...")

He was woken from sleep by a sudden and unexpected event. Ted said: "All of a sudden, the motor home shook violently. It listed 30 degrees or so. I would anticipate that the tires just about came off the ground." Something large and having immense strength was rocking the motor home, standing right outside his window.

Seven Points about Abba Father God That We Believers Need to Hold Onto

(A waterfall and a stream. Pixabay. Free images.)
Seven Points About Abba Father God That We Believers Need to Hold Onto

1. Abba Father God loves us with everlasting love (Jeremiah 31:3) and He is the One who sent Jesus to the earth to pay for our sins (John 6:38-40).

2. God the Father suffered to see the torment Jesus went through for the sins of the human race and to see the suffering of mankind. (John 10:30).

3. Jesus is the Judge of the human race. (John 5:22-23).

4. We need to realize that God the Father is for us (He desires what is best for us), and deeply loves us, and cares for us very deeply, since we are His dear children. (John 16:17Psalm 103:13).

5. We also need to remember that Jesus Christ, God the Father, and the Holy Spirit (together, the Trinity of God) dwell within the spiritual heart of everyone who has made Jesus Christ his (or her) Savior and Lord. (John 14:23).

6. If we love Jesus, we will obey Him. See John 14:23 and Romans 13:8-10.

7. If we don't love Jesus, we won't obey Him. See John 14:24.

There are some things we believers need to hold onto (and I know this very much).

(1.) One is that Abba Father God loves us with everlasting love (Jeremiah 31:3) and He is the One who sent Jesus to the earth to pay for our sins (John 6:38-40). He is One God, as we Christians all know, (1 John 5:7 [KJV]) and He also suffered when Jesus died on the cross.
(Jesus turns water to wine. Click for source.)

Jeremiah 31:3

"[3] The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee."

In John 6:38-40 Jesus said:

"[38.] For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. 39. And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. 40. And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day."

1 John 5:7 [KJV] says: "[7] For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one."

Jesus, in John 10:30, said: "I and my Father are one."

Mary Byrne's 1905 English Translation of "Be Thou My Vision" Can Be Our Prayer to God or Our Statement of Faith

(Scenic Ireland. Click for source.)
Mary Byrne's 1905 English Translation of "Be Thou My Vision"
Can Be Our Prayer to God or Our Statement of Faith

Mary Byrne's English translation (from 1905) of "Be Thou My Vision" is very powerful when you pray it to God. It was an old Irish song of worship from hundreds of years ago. We don't know who exactly wrote it. But, some think it could have been influenced by Patrick of Ireland, who God used to bring Christianity to that island nation.

Worshiping God with music is very powerful and moving. I was thinking that we could read the text of "Be Thou My Vision" but substitute "You are" in place of Be thou" to make it a statement of praise. Or, we can leave it as "Be thou" and use it as a prayer to God. Personally, I like both options.

Another way of looking at this is to use this old Irish hymn as both praise and prayer. We want God to be our vision, our focus, our delight. But, we can thank Him that He is our shelter and our Father, for instance.

(Also, we could change "King of the seven heavens" to "High King of Heaven".)

We have Mary Byrne's translation below.

➽ The Meaning of Bethesda (House of Lovingkindness) in John Chapter 5 ▧

(A painting of a stream. Click for source.)
The Meaning of Bethesda in John Chapter 5

John 5:2
"Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches."

According to Strong's Exhaustive Concordance,
Bethesda is made from two Hebrew words: bayith (#1004 in Strong's Hebrew section) and checed (#2617 in Strong's Hebrew section).

Bayith means house.

Checed (kheh'-sed) is lovingkindness and many other things.

According to
NAS Exhaustive Concordance, the Hebrew word checed (Strong’s #2617) includes lovingkindness, lovingkindnesses, unchanging love, devotion, favor, kindnesses, deeds of devotion, mercies, loyalty, and goodness in its definition. (Strong's Exhaustive Concordance includes pity as well.)

So, Bethesda Is a Word Meaning House of Lovingkindness

Finding the Living Bread, and True Life, and True Love (How to Fight Depression, Fear, Lust, Anger)

Finding the Living Bread, and True Life, and True Love
 ___________________________

September 16, 2017 // Print Document

Jesus Christ revealed to me some truth about John chapter 6 that He wants me to share with you. I encourage you to seek Father God about this. He will show you the truth if you seek Him and wait on Him. All glory be to Jesus Christ's Name!

Jesus Christ said in John 10:27: "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:"

God said to me: "My son, I am with you and I love you very much. I have a message for you to share with all people that will read this message. It is for them to seek Me about and to find in Me the Answer that they need. I will reveal truth about these scriptures in John chapter 6 to help My people see Who I really am. And, I the LORD your GOD and Abba Father have spoken."

The loving Abba Father God had me post up these verses below. After these verses, you will see a message from God explaining something about them which I feel God would like you to seek Him about.

John 6:22-27

22 The day following, when the people which stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was none other boat there, save that one whereinto his disciples were entered, and that Jesus went not with his disciples into the boat, but that his disciples were gone away alone;

23 (Howbeit there came other boats from Tiberias nigh unto the place where they did eat bread, after that the Lord had given thanks:)

24 When the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also took shipping, and came to Capernaum, seeking for Jesus.

25 And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, Rabbi, when camest thou hither?

26 Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.

27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.

Will Christians Be at the Great White Throne Judgment? (Can Christians Fall Away?)

Will Christians Be at the Great White Throne Judgment? (Can Christians Fall Away?) [Print Document]

That a Christian could possibly fall away is one of the highly debated topics among Christians. There are many who believe that once you are saved, you can never fall away (or cease to be a Christian). Does the Bible teach that it is impossible for a Christian to fall away? Does the Bible teach that all Christians are the elect or God’s sheep? We we look at this from a biblical perspective to see what God’s Word says about this debated topic.

Hebrews 3:6-19 gives an admonition to brethren (i.e. believers). Hebrews 3:8 says: “Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:”
But, some might say that Hebrews 3 was addressed to unbelievers. Is it really addressed to unbelieving people? Let’s take a look.
Hebrews 3 and Hardness through Sin
Hebrews 3:12-13
“[12] Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. [13] But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. [14] For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;”
First of all, an unbeliever already doesn’t know God and doesn’t believe in Jesus Christ as his (or her) personal Savior and Lord. In a sense, they already have departed from God. Also, notice the tone of the message? It is one of warning and admonition. The writer of Hebrews addresses his readers as “brethren” and warns them that they can be “...hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.” He also clearly states that he and his readers are made partakers of Christ if he and his readers hold fast their confidence to the end.

Matthew 24 and Enduring to the End
