“So, your friend, Konstantine, has been preparing a place for us?” Steve said to Alexei as they sat around the red-bearded Russian’s table in his apartment in Novosibirsk, Russia.

“That is correct,” Alexei said. “I feel that we will have to leave this place very soon, and I will have to put in my two-week’s notice with my delivery job tomorrow.”

“Why do you feel you need to quit your job so soon?” Sarah asked from across the table.

Mary Byrne's 1905 English Translation of "Be Thou My Vision" 

Can Be Our Prayer to God or Our Statement of Faith

Mary Byrne's English translation (from 1905) of "Be Thou My Vision" is very powerful when you pray it to God. It was an old Irish song of worship from hundreds of years ago. We don't know who exactly wrote it. But, some think it could have been influenced by Patrick of Ireland, who God used to bring Christianity to that island nation. 

Worshiping God with music is very powerful and moving. I was thinking that we could read the text of "Be Thou My Vision" but substitute "You are" in place of Be thou" to make it a statement of praise. Or, we can leave it as "Be thou" and use it as a prayer to God. Personally, I like both options. 

Another way of looking at this is to use this old Irish hymn as both praise and prayer. We want God to be our vision, our focus, our delight. But, we can thank Him that He is our shelter and our Father, for instance.

(Also, we could change "King of the seven heavens" to "High King of Heaven".)

In Chapter 37, Yong Tang, a young Chinese soldier, and a platoon of imperial Chinese PLA soldiers were searching for Christians in a jungle-covered region of Vietnam. Their goal was to either capture or kill them. Already, they had killed an old Vietnamese man, who had been martyred for his faith in Jesus.

A few miles from the platoon of imperial Chinese PLA soldiers, Hu Zheng, and his three friends were walking down a wispy footpath through a dense region of the jungle. Quang, a 44-year-old Vietnamese man, led the way at the head of the group of Christians. Cheng Yuan, a 42-year-old Chinese man, followed him, chatting about various things such as the weather and people from the Bible. Each of them carried rucksacks with attached sleeping bags, except for Sheng, a former Chinese soldier, who had just recently become a Christian.

At the rear of the small column, the two youngest members of the group conversed with each other. Sheng, was telling Hu Zheng, another young Chinese man, about his life as a civilian while attending High School in Shanghai. Both Hu and Sheng were 24 and got along well with one another. 

Quang suddenly turned around and said with a look of excitement, “Brothers, I believe I have found a trail that leads to a ‘safe house.’ So, be on the lookout for anything that seems suspicious or that stands out to you.” 

“What are we looking for?” Sheng said, curious.

Romans 16:10-15 mentions the names of people Paul personally met. These names have important meanings in Greek. In this article, we will show the name meanings from Romans 16:10-15 along with some other nouns. Amazingly, these name meanings,* when placed together in the order in which they appear in the Bible, form a secret message: a message from God. (*Note: These are name meanings which God revealed to me based on concordances and Bible dictionaries.) 

At the very end of this article, we have placed a secret message which was formed out of Greek name meanings from Romans chapter 16, verses 10 through 15.

Now, let's look at each Greek word of significance and see what dictionaries and concordances have to say about them. After we give each word meaning from reference works, we will include a spiritual meaning, revealed by God. I encourage anyone reading this to seek God about this message and about these words, if he or she would like to.

The words we will look at are arranged in the exact order found in the Bible in Romans 16:10-15. We list them below as they appear in the Bible, starting with Aristobulus:

Spiritual Meaning: (Name meanings God gave me: "One who walks in the light." Or, "One who is of the light.")

Name: Kegchreai (Cenchrea)

Strong's Number: 2747

Name Meaning: "Probably from kegchros (millet)". Kegchreai was "a port of Corinth".

Spiritual Meaning: (God showed me: "A place of buying and selling grain." "Spiritually, a place of much fruit.")

Name: Priskilla (Priscilla)

Strong's Number: 4252

Name Meaning: "Diminutive of Priska; [acc. to Strong's]". "Feminine form of Priscus, a Roman family name which meant "ancient" in Latin [acc. to behindthename.com]."

PART 37: “The Search in the Vietnamese Jungle" // "The Package in Novosibirsk"

A platoon of 24 communist Chinese soldiers walked on a narrow trail through a jungle in northern Vietnam. A young, 21-year-old soldier named Yong Tang was one of them. He wished he could be somewhere else. Mosquitoes pestered him, the temperature was at least 90 degrees Fahrenheit, and his feet felt somewhat sore and sweaty from all the walking he did for the past six days.

Each Chinese soldier was equipped with a rucksack, a rain-proof sleeping bag, a bullpup-style Type 95 automatic rifle, ammo, an all-purpose fix-bladed knife, grenades, rations, a map, and a compass. They had been hiking through the Vietnamese jungles for nearly a week, and many in the platoon were ready to return to base, but the lieutenant in command of the platoon had orders to locate and kill Christians, and he was determined to do just that. 

After all their time patrolling this section of the jungle, the platoon had seen very few people. But, they had killed one Christian man who they had found in the jungle carrying a backpack, which had contained three Bibles in Vietnamese. He was an older Vietnamese man who appeared to be in his late seventies. Something about this older Christian had struck Yong Tang as being remarkable. The memory of the encounter replayed itself in Yong’s mind.

Numbers chapter 2 (verses 1-31) speaks of the names of leaders of the 12 tribes of Israel and where the tribes were situated related to the tabernacle.  There is significance to the name meanings and to the positions of these 12 tribes about the tabernacle in the wilderness.

On the east side of the tabernacle are the tribes of Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun. There are three names in verse 3 relating to just the tribe of Judah: Judah, Nahshon, and Amminadab.
